By making big holes in the roof from catapult fire - more floors could be visible and used to play on.

Very nice terrain Drum! I especially like the Helms Deep, the attention to detail is amazing.

The terrain is starting to look great. Don't know if you need to replicate a brick effect. It looks great as is.

for the roof you could just leave the arches that were supporting the whole structure and have a lot of (playable and standable) rubble in the middle and pretty much covering the whole floor just to represent the whole thing collapsing and leaving the strongest parts still standing. that way you will have a big hole that you can put models through and something you can still call a roof :)

this is kind of what i meant in the top right hand corner you can see the arches with small bits of the ceiling still attached. you could have the arches on both sides- different lengths of course :-D and have them along the main hall.
Image

apart from the fact that its not exactly possible (in real life) the arches would be too weak so support themselves but since its a fantasy world i guess you can just go and get creative 8)

terrain is looking good (as usual  )

About the roof, I would personally go for something like this.
Image
It's not entirely gothic, more like roman architecture.
If you want to see more of it try this link.
From about 33:00 you get a nice view of the castle and it's roof (or wat's left of it.)
And if you want a ruined cathedral you don't have to look further than the Pillars of the earth.

Looking forward to the next update. 8)

@aquan that is EXACTLY what i meant! :D but i just couldnt find a good enough picture
but i dont think The Pillars of the Earth has a good enough example of a ruined roof (even though half of the series is about that :P)

and on that note... you could make it wooden, half repaired. id doesnt have to be completely destroyed. maybe try something like the building site piece i made. have it under contruction and just leave it at that. i think it would look quite interesting 8)

Thanks everyone for the kind comments :D

@Valpas - The windows were just made out of foamcore and it seems to have worked well.

@edge67 - Yeah exactly my thoughts...

@aqan - Liking the idea aqan, quite a spectacular roof there too! Yeah I've seen Camelot (which I thought was a little cheesy) and Pillars just blew my mind. In fact I just finished reading the squeal and there working on that film now.

@garmenhord - haha lol!!

@polarbird2 - Love the idea of the cathedral in mid repairs or something, I'll have to come up with a few things for that.

Update

Right I got the other tower finished today and it's slowly getting there. I'm not sure which bit I'll start on next, we'll see what turns out.

Next update soon
