Here's that promised update. I finished off the barrels by putting rims on it and then painting it all. I also added two piles of rocks on each side of the wooden front where they chuck things down. Got two wise men statues and put them on top of the Moria pillars. Although the dry brushing didn't go well on them so I might re do them.

Outstanding work! I really love all the small touches that really bring the piece to life (the caked mud on the brickwork, sandbags and arms racks, etc.) Keep it up!

Well I'm back onto this project again and I've started testing paints and textures. I used the method of pressing tin foil into the foam to give it some depth, then just went for mixed sand, glue and paint on top. The only problem is bricks.... so I'll see what it's like without first.

@Hilbert: Thanks

Right I've been working on it a little more tonight. At every joint I need to add some paste so it doesn't look like there are joints. It's not difficult but time consuming, especially for everything to dry. I even used the hairdryer to speed things up a little. I'll show you my progress and also what I will do.
If you look down to the first picture I'm going to cut the whole model in half since it's such a big model. The main reason for this is I'm not going to keep it but sell it. Also guys what are your suggestions on the roof? The Cathedrals going to be heavily damaged with some fallen walls but I need to take in playability in mind as well.
