I use different scenery pieces on some sorta grassy boards and mats.

your scenery is cool well done:) , im jealous of your awesome work station and tool set up .. I hope to have the room for that sorta stuff one day .. and to have a room just for games with the boards to chooose from and the scenery on shelves etc so that you can leave a game and come back to finish it another time etc ... well nice to dream anyway

I allways play with painted models,fully painted not only
a basecoat.
Themed scenery is my favorite always.
But like (almost)all other players i dont have room for
a big battle board.

maye you could try the battle mat an easy to put away cloth makeshift board from gw, actually I dunno if they still do it ?

Yeah rhe battlemat is a good idea but I have
a big fleece blanket that has a nice green colour.
Snd i can make hills just by putting a pillow under
the mat ,i dont think the battlemat is as flexible
as fleece.
Some modular pieces and you have a nice battleground.

Wow if I only ever played games with painted minis then I would never play lol.

Well not quite that bad, perhaps, but I don't let the fact that models are unpainted deter me from trying them out. Having said that, the gaming experience is enhanced tenfold when all the minis are nicely painted on a lovingly crafted terrain board.

I was the youngest member of one of the local clubs for many years. I am very nearly the last man standing because the group did not want to change the way things were done to attract new members.Fred and I started making themed presentations to attract new members. We had moderate success. Now that Fred has passed away as well,you can be sure I will be ready with a themed table and painted miniatures ready the week end the Hobbit releases. It is hard to attract younger players because of the expense and they are used to video games. The game will have to be as visual as I can make it.

Excellent work OMW! Thecreative use of materials is fantastic!
I like to use modular pieces when I play for the reason most said, not enough room for permanent board.
Modulalr construction alllows for a variety of set-ups, too.
Oh, and I'd never play with unpainted models... ever. The "look" is too important.

I know right. I tried playing it with a few friends and cousins, but they only wanted to play with the figures and not the game.
