Since there was a tie for first place in the last poll and someone kindly pointed out that I had completely forgotten to include 'Wayfarer' I thought we could do a quick poll to pick the best name out of the three or four most popular. So, this will run for 3 days and you each get one vote, so make it count. |

Though the Princess Bride fan in me REALLY wanted to go with Commoner, I voted Villager since people were expressing a potential 'offense' with Commoner. Thanks for caring enough to ask our input on this!!! |

Wayfarer for me. Why? Well, so much of the tales are about journeys, both physical and in the development of the characters themselves. Bilbo's journey changed him forever, and the same went for Frodo, Sam and the others. And of course, there is the greatest wayfarer of them all, the Grey Pilgrim. |

So, the winner was 'Wayfarer' after all - the term we use currently! But given the popularity of 'Villager', I will set that as the title of the next rank then. So... 0 - Wayfarer 1 - Villager 2 - Spearman 3 - Warrior 4 - Banner Bearer 5 - Captain 6 - Champion 7 - to be decided |

I don't know why but "spearman" strikes me as odd. I think "squire" would be a better title. Whatever works though, it's all good. Just throwing other terms out there: Adventurer, Journeyman |

I too like the ranger idea, though I think that perhaps ranger should be a higher rank then warrior. |

Excellent idea Shieldmaden! I like it. And by the Custom Rank, I assume you mean that you can come up with your own title (like: "High King", "Nazgul" or whatever). |

Exactly what I was thinking - more might be 'Lord of the West', 'Steward of Gondor', etc. That's if Dag is willing to produce extra rank images - perhaps they would have to be extra hard to obtain.

The Custom Rank does sound like a cool idea, not that I'd ever stand a chance of reaching it. Likely the site would go down first X( Just for fun, not a suggestion to be taken seriously since Dag has the ranks already in the works. I looked at TLA just recently and they already have titles like villager, squire, standard bearer. How 'bout an Lotr theme: 0- Wayfarer 1- Hobbit 2- Ranger 3- Dwarf Lord 4- Elvish Princeling 5- King 6- Istari 7- Ring Bearer Then others in between like; Captain of the Tower, Steward... etc. edit: About the custom rank idea, I actually wouldn't like it if members created their own, there will always be 1 goofball going against the theme of the site and will put "Captain of USS Enterprise" ( I'm talking to you Ingold!, jk lol), "Spider-man", "Jedi Knight", and whatever. I would like the custom rank idea if several were created by the site admin(s) that would fit the theme and the member would just choose one. Example of suggestions that some others here already mentioned like; King of Men, Steward, Istari/Wizard, Ring Bearer, Dark Lord, Lord of the Rings, Castellan, etc. Or member created title that just simply needs to be approved by the admin that strictly follows the theme of the site would probably solve the oddball problem. |

Though most people that would get to the highest rank would be longtime members, or have a lot of extra cash they wanted to blow...So I don't think there would be a problem with 'rogue' custom titles. |
