Come on guys, don't waste your time on christmas dinners and family visits over the holidays, get painting!

The next challenge will be a tricky one to quickly provide an entry for, but this is only a duel. Can you paint two models over the course of 9 days? If so, pick two in fighty poses and preferably a pair that thematically would like to chop eachother in two or more pieces, put them on a base together (one with two 1" holes so that you can still use them for a game later on) and take some pics!

Some WIP photos, I think tomorrow I will post the final photos, will be only 5, is right?

Some photos of the process:

The base is one of the towers of the Black Gate

Some modifications of the fell beast and the eagle

I make two riders Khamul and the Master of Umbar, that I can change with magnets I put in them and in the fell beast.

That certainly looks to be an epic confrontation!

EDIT:
Having just gotten a nice idea for the Winter competition, I'll be attempting to still finish a Duel entry, but a significantly smaller one:

Or I post the final photos or will be very late.
My scene, "Duel over the Black Gate".
I had made two riders, the Master of Umbar and Khamul, they fix with magnets in their back.

Lovely work, that spinning picture is a revelation.

Really good work for such a short period. I prefer the Knight over Khamul.

Very original. That Nazgul pose is awesome. Just like in the films!

I have a question: Can I use one the models in two challenges? For example, I do two proof pics one for this challenge and another for the winter theme December challenge? Or do I need separate models for both challenges?

Hi Mirva, You have made a great "epic duel" diorama. Congrats for idea and nicely made scene...

Well...I regret it is too late already for me to join competition, but wish to share some pics of my "duel" project in progress ,which could fit into rules perfectly.
Per original schedule, it should be finished by November, but as always ordinary life makes us a lot of surprises and eats any free time rapidly leaving no spare in return for hobby, sometimes...
However, still I am going to finish it in January.

My diorama is about Moria duel between Balrog and Gandalf and is made as gift for my father's birthday.
Here are some pics.
1. Styrofoam scenery and duel concept:

2. Pinned Balrog on it's place (figure is removable easily from bridge and can be placed on regular base for gaming if needed)

3. Painting in progress :-)

I know lava is too bright (too yellow and red) and rocks also still require some "stronger" light effects from fire...
And some other photos for the end...

Some things came tumbling down a shelf yesterday, damaging and breaking themself or the things they fell on. As the piece wasn't really improved by damage, I'll sadly not be able to finish the entry in time - but at least there are two contenders anyway!

Gutted for you, hope things weren't too badly damaged and will repair.

Thanks Gandlaf, that's kind of you. A pity about the entry, although I'm more annoyed at Gulavhar's wing snapping off after having spend much time getting it stuck into exactly the right angle. On the other hand, the only thing that hit me in the process was a small bottle of paint, and a collision of said Gulavhar with my head would have been rather more unfortunate for the both of us!

In the end is it fitting that the duel challenge has become a duel ?

Ironic, isn't it? :-D
All of my paint and supplies have been misplaced since coming back, so nothing was going to get done on my end. :(

That Moria piece looks like it could have been a real contender. Pity it never got finished! It looks great so far though.

Thanks...
And it will be finished soon :)
Now, I have got box with Dweller in the Dark for Christmas , so will paint both monsters simultaneously as these are very similar in color schemes and techniques.

If so, I'm looking forward to all the entries that the next challenge, 'Total Warfare', promises! 8)

Hope to see the unfinished entries finished at some point, they already look fantastic.
