@LordoftheBrownRing - this is a single miniature challenge really. I think what your describing would fit into the diorama challenge which i will be setting up 2moro.

Hmmm....Ok. Maybe Ill figure something out. Thanks man! I have to decide on a good mini because from what Ive seen its not only the painting which Im weak at, but also the figure chosen.

I decided to remake my whole dol amroth army so here is my entry, a finecast foot knight of dol amroth, striped and slightly converted (changed his head and added a small scarf)

* After so many amazing entries i decided to to change my entry aswell to something more competitive. Dol amroth Captain (converted from a banner bearer)

Let's dive in the boxes of unpainted models.. definitely must be a nice 'Good' model in there somewhere. With over three weeks to paint it, even I should be able to finish one...

I am going to enter one of my favorite sculpts of recent releases, Bilbo in a very dramatic pose jumping.

Gorgeous model Harfoot - I really enjoyed painting it and you don't see that sculpt a lot!

If I could offer one piece of advice, remove him from the base, tip the tree stump backwards a bit and then fill the gap with sprue offcuts/greenstuff. It will mean that Bilbo's face faces out instead of down and makes for a better pose and an easier paint job!

Have a look at page 6 of my WIP to see what I mean, I think it made a big difference:

Hope that helps and good luck!

Proof Pic:

I am currently returning to painting my LOTR Elves after almost a year of doing nothing Ito be honest I have virtually painted nothing for almost a year, let alone LOTR...) Anyway, I have recently begun to regain my mojo, and, as I hardly ever post on here (although I do 'lurk' regularly), I thought I'd have a bash at this for the first time ever!

I am using Galadhrim models to build a generic Elven force. I don't play tournaments or anything like that, so I can build forces as I want, using models I like and not having to worry about optimum force lists or anything like that. Thus, I have chosen to use Galadhrim Guard models as Spearmen, adding Rivendell Elf shields I found on EBAY. The pic below shows the competition model pre-assembly (I have 17 more like him to do for the army!) - I have also replaced the god-awful fine cast pikes which are universally way too bent to be kept. You'll see the steel wire replacement on the pic...

I'm going to fix him up tonight, then undercoat him. WIP shots by the weekend all being well...

Welcome too/ back Andy. Is your avatar one of your pieces ?

Thank you!

It is...I actually sold that avatar model about 6 months ago! I have changed my painting style since doing that model, due to eyesight issues. I have an old thread in the WIP forum that shows the overall style I am now using. This model will be done like that in my new style for that army in the WIP thread...

Thanks Dr. G I see what you mean, it does improve the sculpt.

I present young Thorin Oakenshield.
My thoughts of late have been to making my own fires and this was the inspiration behind the base.Image

Excellent Mally - you've set the bar very high for the challenge. Really nice piece.
