I don't know what I can say that hasn't been said already, so instead I'll just echo what others have said. David was an imaginative and creative painter and converter, and his work was always an inspiration to me. He was encouraging and kind, even if I didn't like what I painted (and I think I speak for others here), and his encouraging words made me like it again. It won't be the same without him.

My thoughts are with your family and friends, may you rest in peace

This is truly sad news. I never had the honour of meeting Dave face to face, but online he was always so warm and friendly. I will miss him, his writing, his wonderful way of encouraging everyone all the time and of course his great works. My condolences to Lisa and the rest of the family and friends.

Although I haven't been active on The One Ring for ages, I always remained a regular visitor ever since real life required more attention. Today I feel the need to reply in this thread, because I've known Bilbo as a well loved an inspiring member of our community. A friendly chap, a warm person, a true member of the fellowship... Rest in peace, David.

I'm very saddened by this news and my condolences to his family. I hope them the very best and he will most certainly be missed on the OR community.

Oh my god. This has come as a huge shock to me. I've been part of these forums since 2006, and knew Dave as well as a large amount of the OR veterens. Real life has kept me away from the forums for the past year or so, but this is truly a huge loss for the community. Dave has been an inspiration with his efforts towards all aspects of the hobby and was a driving force behind my capacity to improve on my painting skills. He always had something good to say about everyone, and thats why he's always been a freaking top bloke.

My heartfelt condolences go out to you and your family Lisa.

Rest in peace David :(

I don't know what to say, I'm shocked, even though I didn't really know him, he was very kind to everyone here, always prepared to help, ...
I hope he'll be in a better place now. Hopefully his family and friends will be okay, my deepest respect too them aswell.

We'll miss you David, rest in peace.

In one way or another all OneRingers stand out: by their artistry, by their craftsmanship, by the way they encourage and support the community… but some are more iconic than others. I’m sure there’s a better way to describe it, but for me, David was one of the main pillars upon which the One Ring has thriven for many years now.

BilboOfTheWhiteTower was there to welcome me on my very first day at the One Ring. It is a strange thought, and a sad one, to realize that he won’t be around anymore.

Ohh, what a terrible and sad new!!!! I never have been very active on this forum, but I know it since the beginning, and I know that David was a very enthusiastic, active and a person to follow on this comunity , always a gentleman on the forums....

I have no words to say how this things can affect so much even with a person that you don´t know personally, and that was so far in the distance, but closer in feeling and with the same love for a hobby...

We miss you, David. Rest in peace. And my condolences to your family.

I don't really know what to say, it is rather unexpected and terrible news, it seems not long ago that I was looking aat Bilbo's WIP. So sorry to hear of this, and sorry I am so late in replying. Bilbo's interesting conversions (like that Gothmog) and paintis and good finds (eg that Wraith for uses as the Necromancer) and so RIP and best wishes to your family. 8)

What devastating news, I'm not sure what to say but I know that those of you who knew him well must be feeling orders of magnitude worse than me =(

Absolute condolences to the family, I'm just so, so sorry.

I really loved BotWT even without knowing him in person. He was so good at encouraging me and everybody else. He was always so polite and so nice in the things he said. Never a mean word. All of his comments on my work from him were so positive and supportive. The One Ring has lost a real paragon of how to "live" in an online world. Some people take their virtual selves and relative anonymity as an excuse to say things in a way they never would to "real" people, but David was never like that and his friendly positiveness is going to be missed a lot.

I'm now going back over all my WIP etc. posts and seeing all the lovely things he said.

Not sure what else to say, but maybe I'll have to go and buy a Bilbo miniature and paint it in memorandum.

I'll be praying for Lisa and the close family and friends he's left behind and will have a touch of sadness when I watch The Hobbit later this year as Bilbo's name will always remind me of Dave.

Sim.

*edit: I've now ordered my Bilbo miniature and when it arrives I'll try and do the painting justice.

I didn't really know him well and there is only one thing I ever really noticed about him; how kind he was.

He always commented on my WIP updates (more than anyone probably) and he wrote nothing but kindness and encouragement.

Honestly, I am going to miss seeing him around here.

Condolences to his friends and family.
