The 9th of January just past was the 5th birthday of the One Ring (sort of). Happy (belated) Birthday to us! This was the day that Silverscott (the original founder) and Silvertiggie (his lovely lady at the time) decided to transfer the site from a Proboard's free forum into the phpBB2 software we still use. While the site has been around for up to 6 months prior to the changeover (from the 12 of June 2003 to be exact), it really only began to be the integrated site we know and love from Jan 9th onwards. |

Happy Birthday One Ring! 
May I use this as a chance to thank everybody who has helped on the way to today, that includes all Admins and Mods and members (past and present) who've helped with certain things that have lead to OR becoming what it is today. |

This forum is still pretty strong, with members 'arriving' daily, and Alan speaks of the 'good old days' every now and then, but really - he loves the forum just the way it is!!! Brian, I haven't seen you in a while; Where art thou?

Interestingly, I was chatting with Silvertiggie this morning - one of the site's original Admin staff - and she asked how the site was doing and if everyone is still enjoying the place. I told her the place was still growing and members have come and gone, but new blood has come along and energised the place. |

It's a 'timezone' thing. It was Jan 9 here in Australia, and most likely it was in the UK too, but it was Jan 8 in the US and Canada. |
