I adore the random draw of the orders dice - it makes for a lot of tension and involvement as every decision has to be weighted by the possible result of all the remaining dice draws.

Thats for sure. Ive had games where my buddy got 4-6 in a row! in two turns in a row! It actually helped because at the end of the turn, I had free reign on what I wanted to do after he was done moving. I liked that idea.

There should be a weird 'command' rule or something where like up to 3 times per game you can put an orders dice back if you draw your own.

Idk or something like that.

I ordered some of the new Rubicon plastic kits in 28mm/1:56 as an alternative to the Warlord stuff (which is good by the way!). All I can say is whoa! Go have a look: http://www.rubiconmodels.com/
And Warlord's Tank Starter is out as well!

Very nice, they look "crisper" than the Warlord tanks, please show some pictures when you get them. Have you seen the Hobby Boss 1/48th kits, you can pic them up for £9.

1/48 is close but space is a bit of a premium for me so I an sticking with 1/56 scale as far as possible.

Played this for the first time last week, and its an awful game, thought I was playing 40k not WW2. There is one good concept and thats the drawing of initiative dice, but with tank shock, units of infantry charging tanks, so much suppression going on you can't do anything - nah, its not for me.

I agree Dave. The game's origins show through quite clearly and I've not bothered with it since. In fact, when I first played it I started calling it "1940K"

I'll stick with Disposable Heroes for my WWII skirmish games.

Ah but the great thing about WW2 minis is you can play any rules you like with them, in any given scale :)

Speaking of minis - http://www.warlordgames.com/pre-order-s ... boxed-set/
40 plastic minis (including optional parts!) for £30 retail. Nice!

Just got Tank War, D-Day and Ostfront (from Speedyhen). Lots of possibilities now that armoured/mechanised forces are available - of course in a large enough game you could have an armoured platoon and an infantry platoon, making life really awkward for the opposition :)

I already have them regular infantry and siberian troops I'm going to make a soviet styled partisan force so they look really cool, I have enough models, and historically it fits.

They look awesome....

Yes brilliant, the recent amount of releases for Bolt Action is incredible. I've just started the Ostfront Campaign book at my local club, My army is German against the Russians, its a brilliant source book with stacks of Scenarios, fully recommend.

I am looking forward to a dedicated Western Desert campaigns book. Perry's 8th Army and Afrika Korps are stunning sculpts. I keep thinking of the James Mason film where he played The Desert Fox.
