Guys...
When reading all comments I must say that I feel so happy , but also ashamed as I think I didn't deserved for so many compliments.
It is really great to see so big interest in my WIP , what only encourage me to harder and more intense "work" during upcoming weeks.

Unfortunately, whole today evening was lost on "IT rescue activities" as some kind of malware sh..t has been found by anti-virus software , which I had to remove manually from system and from all 3 browsers installed...Hopefully, it looks that I've succeeded as 2 full scans made after repairs were ended with no threats found.
This means Gandalf was put away till tomorrow for final touches...

And honestly saying, I am quite happy with final result achieved.
Can't wait my father's reaction, when he gets this last missing piece to already given duel diorama.
I know he has made 2 LED spot lights under top shelf over places where Balrog and Gandalf are standing. For Barlog is red one and for Gandalf a white one.
I am so curious, as this must be good looking thing when it is dark :yay:
Will try to take some pictures on Monday when I meet him.

Post subject:  Made by Mars_2000 - Dweller in the Dark niknamed "A Dancer"

Hi again.
As always, I thank you a lot for feedbacks given to my jobs.
They really DO motivate to work on yet another model with higher attention.
This time, my post will be quite long as I was almost on the edge of madness :-X , as since last few evenings I only wasted time on my next figure of Dweller (yes…I wasted and lost a precious time), instead of having fun with hobby. Why ? This is what I would like to explain below, so let’s start…

A Dweller in the Dark has brought my attention already few years ago. It is really nicely (read: scary) looking monster, which I desired to add to my Moria collection. But as usual, there were many other prioritized spendings in ordinary life, which has “successfully” prevented me from buying it many consequent years  .
Fortunately, last Christmas, a dear Santa Claus has been very merciful and he brought it me as a gift. Hurraa ! Finally !!! I shouted in great happiness :D :-D

Must say, I was so tempted to throw away all started on that time WIPs and just focus on Dweller, but decided to leave it for a while.
And now , it’s time has come and I’ve started it and then  :o :( Whole charm and “love” has been crushed into little pieces and turned into one never-ending disaster…

The unboxing process has been a truly shocking experience. In the first moment , I was afraid that something has happened with my eyes :? , that suddenly I lost focus (sharpness) when I looked at unpacked from blister parts. But after closer look , it has turned out that it’s just disaster quality of resign. There were so many debrises and excess stuff on sprues, thousands of bubble air holes , not fully moulded parts, twisted parts…. OMG ! Just one big piece of s.....t !

Honestly saying, if I would buy it by myself, the next day it would be returned to seller as quality claim with instant refund request.
Must say it loud : Games Workshop – YOU FAIL !!!! Decision about choosing resign as material for model making ruins your reputation and will cause people to change hobby (or gaming systems). Bravo

Fairly, it should be renamed from finecast to “F.A.I.L.C.A.S.T” on the boxes to not mislead people, who wants to buy a new figures.
I know, I am not a discoverer in this matter, as there were already many comments in past and similar complains for “finecast” made products from Games Workshop , but I am so angry that I had to throw it outside of me, as kind of therapy.

Here are several pictures.

Look at the last picture from above…One Dweller’s leg was so twisted outside, that it caused me laugh  and he got a nickname “A DANCER” because of this kind of dancing looking figure.

And finally, after spending …stop…come back…wasting dozen number of hours only on cleaning parts from excess, bending them to regain correct shape, filling and greenstuffing gaps and holes, I am almost ready to paint it. However, if you take a look at zoomed head, you may still find a lot of tiny holes which I decided to leave as they are. Simply, there are too many of them to find them all and fill in with putty or GS. I gave up

Final note, this is my first resign made model and I believe it will the last one, as well (unfortunately)...

To be continued….

Although everyone recently has been telling how good Fc has got recently, I'm still not getting any of it, the resin I will touch is resin bases.

I'm so shocked at some of the results/price I ended up making my own great beast o Gorgoroth from a collectors model, at least then it's in metal, with bubbles.

Back to your dancer in the dark, you salvaged it pretty damn well I must say

Well I had quite a bit of work to do on my Dweller but no where near that, a great shame as the miniature is lovely.
Also, and in no way attempting to further your insanity, you might want to consider using the left arm which is on the floor or you may find that the ankles give way under it's own weight :S

So, maybe I had a bad luck with my piece or maybe (what I believe is true) quality is downgrading since your model was manufactured.
But, what is worrying me even more, is what u are saying about it's legs which bend under model's weight after time. I have got the same hint already from other person. This is almost a catastrophy, as I completely dislike the pose with arm placed on the ground...

Just a heads up, several bloggers have reported this figure "melting", falling over when the room gets too warm. Here are several links talking about it, and I know I read at least one more on this problem.

Looks like a bad resin to me. I have not bought any of the recast stuff in fine cast, I knew from the get go that things not originally designed and cut up for resin molding would not work as well. Glad I didn't.

I will say that I have always thought that the dweller model is not the greatest looking demon/monster model out there. I never bought it. When it first came out I thought that GW already had several demons on the Fantasy side that were better models and Reaper and other companies also have better looking demon models that would suit as a alternative. So unless you are needing this guy for a tournament (those that didn't buy already one that is), I would buy a metal demon or plastic one from somewhere else and avoid the above stress.

I think your Gandalf looks outstanding and the picture gives it heaps of atmosphere. Sorry about all your troubles with the dweller model. I have just put together the great beast of gorgoroth and crew. Had no quality issues with this at all. The great beast (new version with separate legs, not the old split in half version) was really nice and I couldn't see any obvious casting issues with the orcs (now all painted up). Having said all that finecast is my least favourite material to work with. I like the level of detail, but I don't like painting over it or the chance for thin parts to bend or break.

@Mapper
Many thanks for links. Those has assured me I need to find a way for solid protection of my Dweller from falling down.
And I think , I did it.

Just upgraded it's base by adding few more steps to stairs from original base, up to the height of Dweller's tail, which simply I glue to these later on and receive some kind of "guy-wire" for main body thanks to that.
I hope it will works :-)

Finally, I've managed to finish painting of my Dweller.
Still needs a matt varnish , but I have to wait one day for full dry of paints.

Few photos:

Although I don't like the model, I think you did a fair job on him. I do like the brown accents on the fur which gives him a more bat like quality. Great work.

Mars, There are some absolutely spectacular painters here. DMS is a personal favorite, but there are others, who I can't think of right now, who are just as good.

You are right up there with them. Please continue to post, your work is a joy to see.

By the way, that model sucks. It looks to me like GW had leftover Balrog parts and wanted to use them up. That's no reflection on your painting which is excellent. The model is a piece of junk.

Good work on the Dweller, I like how you have painted the wings as it adds a nice contrast.

How big is this guy? Is he on a 40mm or a 60mm base? I've been thinking of getting one (but only one) for my Moria horde, but I'm still not entirely sure.
