While waiting for my wargs to dry, I decided they needed a pen to keep them in. Went out in my yard, got some sticks and pine needles and made a wattle fence. Now to make some more.

Great idea for the fence. There is no shortage of pine needles in the world. I actually thought of this yesterday, I had seen your post but when I was out with the family at a ecotarium they had a nice set of wattle fences and so I said "hey some guy on the forums made one of these."

Thanks everyone. I had tried using wire but never could achieve a look that I liked. My mom used to make pine needle baskets so I thought I would try them. What is great about using twigs and pine needles is that if it breaks or I don't like the result, it hasn't cost me much :-)

Thought I would do a simple one person lookout tower, patrols ride up to it, climb for a better view, move on.

Just a simple fitting now, will add braces to the legs, etc.

Sometimes the simplest ideas work the best. Of course they would site this on higher ground where they would get a better view anyway but every little helps.
Carve a little horsehead to go on it somewhere - oh, idea. Don't glue it on - use magnets, and then you could have icons for other forces like Rhun, Gondor, Arnor, Laketown and switch them at need.

Agree Dorthonion about higher ground, decided to make the base smaller to allow it to be put on more surfaces and I will probably put the shield/flag in front on with something I can remove so I can change the emblem. Need to paint (or stain, will have to experiment), and base it now.

Post subject:  Re: Mapper's WIP - Lookout tower finished 7-21-14

Finished the lookout tower, smaller base, horse flag can be removed for when it is a Roman lookout tower. Used army painter strong tone shade and vallejo old wood paint. Not bad for matchsticks and toothpicks.

Like the different colours, makes it look old and weathered.

Finished my Wargs. For the wargs, I swapped a few heads, any warg that was rearing on two legs I cut off the support and pinned the back leg instead so I could have variation in height. For the riders I switched a few weapons, converted a drummer and one with a whip. Tabletop standard but now I can field them.

Amazing group, and none of the old metal ones. Drummer and Task Master riders are good idea's.
