Is that orc that is hunched over next to the numenor conversion carrying hedge -clippers? Lol

Funny.. I was thinking the same thing... maybe it is just the angle. Is it actually a bow in right hand and pick in the left?.. or he stole the hedge trimmers from "the ol gaffer"?

Some more Conversions this time Morrannon orcs. These were easy to do mixing with regular orcs and morannon orcs+some other bits makes conversions easy.

The paint job is decent. Gave them a black wash so the Armour looks darker. I need to give these guys a more uniform appearance otherwise you won't be able to tell them apart from the regular orcs. So they have a red and black clothes and dark armour.

I still have another 16 morrannon orcs to fix up their paint job is bad but that will be put on hold for the feb painting challenge.

For the Feb painting challenge I plan to do some Numenor. So here are some conversions that will make none of them the same.

Leader: Captain of Numenor with Heavy Armour and Shield. If you can't tell its Isildur with his head chopped off and replaced with a regular Numenorean head. Originally I tried a plastic head but it just looked wrong so I stole one from a Numenor Spearmen.

I cut through his left arm soo I could bend it round and place a shield on it. and he is holding his sword in one hand. I plan to give him a cape to so he looks more different from Isildur.
Image

Now for the Spearmen, this guy was missing a spear so made out of a warrior of Rohan sword and constructed the flag and hand onto it.
Image

I gave this guy the plastic head that didn't fit well on the captain, I twisted his spear round so the flag is in a different position and it looks like a different spear altogether now. You can see the comparison next to the original.
Image

This one was easy just bent his hand down, needs some repair job round the wrist though.

Liking the gondor captain conversion nice idea. Also very good metallics on your morannon orcs

I love hoe much you can see your progress int he before and after shots above, keep that up and you'll be churning out awesome miniatures at a fair old rate soon.

The conversions are pretty spiffy too. I like the idea of using a Minas Tirith body for a looted orc look.

Cheers

James

Awesome conversions. It really makes the orcs look rag-tag.

I still have bags of orcs and morannons to cut up and convert, so much freedom with those as there is not a uniform to uphold, Elves and Gondor are hard to do because of the armor/plate mail anatomy.

Great conversion! I am definitely going to steal these.

Where abouts did you do the cuts through isildurs arm? did you have to cut along the body or just at the elbow?

Post subject:  Re: Pokyha WIP

I cut along the body and then up the side of the body a bit. I had to use some pliers to bend the arm around. I was quite scared about cutting my fingers off while doing this. Metal is hard to convert :o

Have started on the cloak for my armored Captain.

I still need to add a few more folds and smooth it out more.
Need to put some chain mail on the cut and bent arm. plus hair and a few touch ups.

Constructive criticism welcome.

Update on my Numenor Captain.

Here you can see more folds, although you can see some roughness how do you keep the green stuff smooth? Notice the small hood as well.
Image

This side I like simple and looks good. You can see the lump of his sword sheath under the cloak.
Image

I'm not to sure about this side does it need more detailing and folds? Is it too bare do the folds look right?
Image

I drilled a hole through his hand then attatched the strap. I added chainmail to his arm this looks ok from a distance but up close. I just poked some holes into the green stuff. Can someone give me some tip with chainmail? Then of course I put the arm strap on attaching the shield to the arm. Help with straps will be welcome as well.
Image

I now need to add the hair, chain mail to his right elbow, improve the strap in his left hand and fix his left hand a up bit. Then paint before the end of this month :-D

You're right. It isn't very smooth but from what I can tell its remarkably well done for a beginner.

I can't provide advice on the folds. The back looks natural enough to me. The side doesn't so much though. Not sure what else I can say.

I've read enough of the forum now to point you to the clay shapers that UKfreddybear uses. They are soft tipped or something and apparently makes things much easier to keep it smooth. Not sure where I read it but no doubt someone will point you in the right direction. Check UKFB WIP. Its likely mentioned in there somewhere.

Your conversions are inspired and top-notch, but your paint is a little thick.

Post subject:  Re: Pokyha WIP

That tends to happen mwhen you have painted the miniature 3 times over. I have never tried to take the paint off mainly because I don't know how.

I have heard nail polish remover works on metals but nothing about plastic models.

Update at last, here are the elves I am working on. Purple cloaks look cool but doesn't fit with the rest of my elves that are painted to GW colour scheme one day I will have to redo them since I don't like GWs scheme.
Image
Image

For the captain I have given him red gloves and the red bands on the front of the armour. I also plan to give him some red embroidery on the outside of his cloak. this should make him stand out.

Image
Image

Shield, need to add a glaze to the gem (once I buy one) thanks DMS for the tutorial on your site. Also notice the wood patern on the wooden part of the shield.
Image
Image

Here is the Banner bearer. I decided to go for a light blue like the mounted version. I'm not sure if the base colour fits well with the rest of my army. What colour should I make the emblem? I was thinking of using some red to match the captain.

Help please?
Image

Finshed the painting on him a while ago. But here it is if you haven't seen it.
In the close up pictures you can see all the painting mistakes I made :-X (it looks better a little further away.
