Didn't strictly follow a guide myself, but have read a few in the past. Essentially make the reflection more intense nearer the light source, and use a complimentary colour for the shade. So the fire bits are bright yellow and orange, bit I mixed a deep navy into all the parts receiving no direct light from the fire |

Nicely done. It's good to see that you've added the simultaneous contrast to the osl as it adds a certain artistic flair. |

Best Frodo and Sam at Mt. Doom we've ever seen! You just need Gollum with a nice rock in his hand! Outstanding execution on the fire effect! Will you do lava on their bases? Elladan & Elohir |

Thanks. Don't think I'll be doing any lava though. The implication being that they are up at a height. |

No idea. Typically, as soon as I have a week off I'm on a Star Wars buzz. Might watch TTT at the weekend and see what happens. |

Three years without doing a single mini. TBH I'd gone right off it all, just as I was getting good. So owing to the impending launch of Star Wars Legion, and having a brief holiday romance with a massive LOTR fan, I've dusted off the brushes and dug out some old minis. Fairly happy with this, but a lot of the character got lost in the shading. Might add some moonlight contrast highlights to bring a bit of life back into it |

Welcome back! I actually kind of like how dark it is, I think it fits the scene well. The osl is very nicely done, I think you nailed it! -PoW |

Gene Parmesan wrote: It's just an undercoat really. I use quite transparent layers, going light to dark with shades - so they should end up dark with just a suggestion of moonlight coming from above. I completely forgot how to paint this way, but I watched some vids today amd feel back on track. I mainly do Star Wars legion now but have nothing better to do for the lockdown so gonna try get the fellowship done |

I gave up about 5 years ago I think, just as I was getting good. Been doing legion for about 2 years but generally just to a good tabletop standard as it's a game I've really taken to so they get used. I also split the painting with my brother whonis still a novice. Now I'm eager to get a few display level dioramas done for lotr which I only ever occasionally played but loved to collect. What better time than quarantine. Been reading the book again too. Im quite active on instagram @abbmodels for more updates. |

Sharpened up the eyes again and warmed up the face. Darkened the clothes. Going in the right direction. No rush to get it done |

I enjoy your updates on Instagram, Gene and it is great to have you posting on OR. I like what you're doing with Aragorn. He looks nicely weathered and his face is pretty intense, much like Viggo's can be. Looking forward to seeing some dioramas from you! |
