Thanks for the tips. Thank you Elf for the compliment as well.

Personally I don't mind seems all that much. I like having my models look good but I'm not a perfectionist. To me the joints are just part of the norm of a model's structure unlike true defections where models are warped or miscast. Mould lines are part of the norm but can be annoying when running down an important detail say like a model's face. On the mumak there is clear visible mould lines on the tusks. I shaved a few of them but not all. I did close the gap a bit on the trunk connection with green stuff mostly to glue the piece easier, but the trunk is to me the most visible joint that stands out on this model judging by my first Mumak where I didn't seal it.

Maybe not my choice as I hate mold lines and I spent an age filling and cleaning up when I did my Mumak, but that's one of the beauties of the hobby side, you do as you see fit. That, in my opinion, is more important than many other things. So if you are pleased then that's great.

I like the tusk appendages. I bought a fourth Mumak just yesterday as it was cheap. I haven't even finished the first one yet. I thought one for my Haradhrim, one for my Mahuds, one for a diorama and the other one for a dead piece.

^Wow. I wouldn't want to waste one for a dead piece. Not into dioramas either. If I had concentrated on a single army instead of collecting, I probably would've bought a mumakil annually until I reached 10 of them. And have the opposing force just purely be cavalry. Only if I wasn't collecting.

@Gandlaf, exactly. My time is precious and I don't want to fiddle about filing and covering gaps. I have a huge backlog and at the rate I paint my miniatures, I would die before I complete it if I spend my time worrying over every minuscule detail.

Upgrading my mumakil to have a tusk weapon. Using tooth picks for spikes.

The barbwire is going to turn out to be a bit bigger than expected.

Fantastic work on the Mumaks! :yay: I really like what you have done with the tusks and the war paint on this most recent one. Mine still sits in its box in the cupboard.

Actually edge this is my very first one that I bought back when the model was first released, then it took me a couple of years to unbox and paint it. Never got around to finishing the base and I always intended on adding the barb chain.

I accidentally snapped the head off while applying the spikes. This presents me with an opportunity to change the position of his head.

Thank you for the replies guys.

When some of you commented this on being a "good idea", I hope you meant how I went about making it because the idea of a barbed chain itself isn't my idea. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was barely featured on the theatrical release, the extended edition showed plenty of scenes of how ruthless this weapon was on the Rohirrim.

Practically finished my base, just a few touch ups left. So 1/3 mumakils completed, finally. Hopefully I can finish the other 2 by end of January (unlikely), then off to paint 26 Haradrim (yay...) + 2 Mahud Riders.

Might lower the intensity of the skin discoloration later

Skins looking good. Hard to say if it's the photo or not but it looks like it could do with more highlight. Just a few touches in the highest spots will make it pop.

Sorry to be picky, but realistic flames would be upside down from what you see. The white should be at the center getting darker towards the top. Thought that I'd point that out to you.

However, Sacrilege, you've done a good job with the flames. Love the highlights! 8) And the Mumakil is coming along nicely.
