Really interested to see how this comes along. Haven't seen such ambitious plans with the hobbit minis before.

And I thought having 30 Gundabad Orcs was a lot, but then again I'm only getting the evil side. Your armies are looking nice already. What about Mirkwood Cavalry though?

Like many I've been dissapointed at price increases and basic troops released as finecast however in light of recent events with all troops being finecast and more becoming unavailable I decided to buy as much as possible as quick as I can.

Initially I wasnt a fan of mirkwood cavalry due to not being in the movie however I am warming to them and mirkwood is the army I want most populated for the good side so it's not out of the question.

I did just order palace guard captains, mirkwood bowmen, radagast on eagle and gwahir. My next update will be beorn and 5 eagles :)

Hey guys, my latest order came through today so thought even though I am not currently working on my White Council piece that I would assemble them and get some pictures up for anyone interested in the new minis.

Upon opening the pack I noticed Elrond's sword tip was broken and nowhere to be found. Do you guys think I should get it exchanged? It seems so small but I'm not so sure if I can sculpt it, not sure what to do

Next up was Galadriel, she needed a lot of work cutting away pieces of finecast attached to her dress, it was annoying and I accidently hacked into some of the dress but all in all a great mini. Her legs are not as chunky as the games workshop pictures show.

Now for Saruman, it promised a lot by the pictures but was a pretty disappointing mini in terms of putting together, it was the toughest job I've had assembling a mini so far, right up there with Laketown Spearmen. While running his staff under hot water to reshape it the top part and bottom part beneath his hand both fell off, his right arm was also out of shape for the glue mould and couldn't be reshaped

This kit is definitely a more advanced one with an unnecessary amount of different parts, it would've been much easier if it had less parts. The missing sword and wonky Saruman has let me disenchanted with this kit however the figures do look cool and hopefully once I reshape Sarumans staff and paint them up I will look upon them more happily.

Tell GW about the broken Elronds Sword, this set is £45 and they should be perfect. They will send a replacement pack out.

Nice review of these new releases. Looking forward next updates from painting stages, especially Saruman who is my favourite one in this set.
However, when reading about the quality issues, it is yet another proof against "finecast" made figures.
Once again, GW dissapoints as these are so expensive to be so problematic...Should be top-notch quality for this price.

Exactly. You
wouldn't pay 45 quid for an uncooked meal in a restaurant. That price demands perfection

Thanks for the input guys, I guess I feel a little bad as this will be the 4th time I have needed something replaced in the last 12 months but you're all right this is a premium price kit and shouldn't be faulty no matter how small it is. I'll email Games Workshop later today.

To be honest I think your excellent review will stop me getting them. Sarumans staff is a joke.
I am finding there are some fantastic sculpts out there but unfortunately aren't LoTR. The standard of these sculpts should be so much better for the price.

Hello everyone, been a long time since I've done anything hobby related. I did start painting some hunter orcs but as usual didn't finish the project.

I was heavily inspired by the SBG fan magazine issue 2 the terrain for the battle of azanulbizar was amazing so used that as my main reference point and tried to create one for myself. So far this is the progress from day 1

Hey guys the terrain has had a little more work done to it, it has been extended out so the stairs aren't going onto the rocky hill immediately and the cliff face on the gate has been secured. I've also ripped up parts of the rocky hill as it looked a little odd in places.

It is now on hold due to needing some supplies for it. In the meantime I've been painting dwalin here is the progress so far

Dwalin's coming along nicely and the scenery looks great! Really happy to hear the magazine inspired you, Rick will be very proud and it's the sort of feedback that keeps us motivated to keep working on the next issue! Can't wait to see how the scenery develops!

Thank you Garmenhord I appreciate your support :)

Thanks Dr Grant the magazine is awesome looking forward to more issues.

Here is my Dwalin just about finished, he needs a little touching up on the armour studs on his skirt thingy and he'll be all done for the competition. More importantly my first completed mini in a long long time so I'm pretty happy.
