I was curious to see, what is the benefit of having an orc drummer?

The benefit of an orc drummer is to get your troops in combat as fast as possible, so archery doesn't do as much damage to your army.

So If I play against an archer depended faction (f.e. elves/Uruks with xbow), take an orc drummer?

Its essentially free heroic march each turn. Depending on the scenario this can be very useful. Especially in the new Heirlooms of Ages Past. Speed is very important in that one, not to get into combat but to search and keep the prize away from the enemy.

Some new scenarios that can be found here.

Not sure if these will be strictly for the GT or if they will eventually replace the standard scenarios we've been playing for years.

Listen guys the value of the orc drummer just grew exponentially! I dont know how many people realize the scenarios have changed in a very important way....

Heirlooms and Hold Ground still have the random deployment. So you can still use the Orc drummer to rush your army forward to meet up with other units or to get to your opponents fast.

In addition ALL other scenarios let you deploy on your board edge if you so choose. Reconnoitre says the warbands come in from the board edge and the final three let you deploy 'within 24 inches of your table edge'.

That means elves, Knights of Rivendell, Rohan, x bows, all these units can sit in the back and spam shoot again. Arnor? Just got better. Rohan? better. Etc.

I'd rather use a troll drummer, as they affect ALL freindly models regardless of race, also bonus... you get a mordor troll.
