Hi

Decided to get back into lotr again as now i am an adult and can understand the aspects to the game thought about getting a starter kit you know the ones that have two small forces in. So went onto games workshop to find that they dont produce lotr minatures anymore (little inturnal sob).So my question is where can i get starter sets thats if they still avaliable and will it cost me an arm and a leg.

Games Workshop still makes lotr models for the time being but there under the Hobbit banner now and are getting moved to Forge World within the next year or so. As for starter set like they have for their Warhammer range the closest thing to that would be the basic Goblin Town starter set. It comes with the Hobbit era rules Thorin's company and the only Goblin Town miniatures in production I think. Not much of a starter set for army building really but GW never really made a Warhammer style starter set, with two basic armies to play out of the box, for lotr.

All existing plastic, metal and finecast models will remain on the Games Workshop website.

New models (made with Forge World resin) will be on the Forge World site.

The only Middle-earth box set at the moment is The Hobbit: Escape from Goblin Town. If you look on eBay though you might be able to find one of the old boxed sets available, although you’ll need the updated Hobbit rules.

The Fellowship of the Ring (Moria Goblins Vs The Last Alliance)
The Two Towers (Rohan Vs Isengard)
The Return of the King (Gondor Vs Mordor)

Although they only contain basic Warriors, you’ll still need Heroes.

Yes, Hobbit and Lotr is the same game, you can have hobbit era models with lotr era models, not an issue

You'll just need the hobbit main rulebook and then the source books for the lotr armies you want, of which there are five.
