Hi there,

I have an old Treebeard model, with Merry and Pippin and was wondering if I could still use it these new editions we have? Is there still an option to field and army of ents (I can see there's not many minis) or will he fit in somewhere else?

Apologises if this is a seemingly obvious question but I haven't bought the rulebooks yet and I'm not sure about taking the plunge in...

Thanks guys

Yes to both. Ents are in their own army list: Fangorn. There is nothing else in this list. Treebeard can have Merry and Pippin as an add-on option. Fangorn can ally with any good army, but loses its army bonus for doing so. It's certainly an interesting bonus that would help out against armies heavily invested in magic.

You can use generic ents as well as Treebeard. However, ents are 120 points each. You will have a very small army.

Thanks for the replies guys

Fewer models would be a great thing for me as I have limited time to paint. I managed to have a quick look through a friends copy and I do like that army bonus, is bludgeon quite strong though? I do like to play these games for fun rather than be competitive, have put guys played gains many entry armies? Are they fun to play or a but OTT?

I'm thinking at the moment of either doing ents or minas tirith with Gandalf the White leading, maybe down the line picking up Borimir too

I have no ents. However, you have 3 other BPAs. I use hurl whenever I can(troll) if I need to knock cavalry down or break a defensive line. Works like a charm, takes out the spears and pikes.
