What better way to spend my Birthday than reading through an article by one of my best friends :)
The idea itself is so simple, yet so perfect for storage and shows the miniature in all its glory.
Modelled and painted to perfection, this is a fantastic addition to the library !

Excellent combination of display and storage. Must investigate the dull cote stuff as I do want my LOTR minis gloss varnished. Good tips.

You knew already (of course) how fond I am about this simple, yet beautiful way to give mini's a storage base. As I also told you before I started with these things after having your 'Sneak Peek information' Mark, and my first one is almost finished! It's easy, beautiful and a pleasure to do!

One of the best ideas and articles ever seen. But you knew that already, didn't you?! :wink:

This is a fantastic addition to the library Mark. Thank you for submitting it here. I have some Warhammer movement trays languishing in the bottom of a drawer somewhere. Now I know a better use for them!

Thanks so much for all the feedback guys, it's wonderful to receive. :)

I am pleased that it seems well-received. I was worried about the fact that I didn't go into detail on the actual painting of the terrain, showing step-by-step photos of the painting. As this should match the way you base your minis, I thought it best not to complicate matters by showing my way of painting the ground.

I intend to fully document the making of a larger base I am doing (two movement trays stuck together), showing everything, including the painting of the ground, and the miniatures on it. It will be a last alliance scene - elves and orcs. I just hope I get my hands on that new high elf standard bearer soon.

Hi suladanthegreat,

the Woodland Scenics URL is http://www.woodlandscenics.com/.

I find their products at a model train store near my work. They are not plentiful over here (and not cheap), but I use them in such small quantities that they last me a long time. I have yet to run out of anything I bought in their range.

Good luck with your basing. It is bound to be a success and I look forward to seeing it.
