Thank you guys for comments ;)

So, my warg chiefatin is done. And I am really glad, how it turned out. Well, maybe I should experiment with blood a little more on the dead Dunedain, but beside that, I think it looks ok.

What do you guys think? :)

Little unproductive week in terms of painting I must say. In the meantime I decided to at last finish two Rangers. Poor guys were left behind, one without sword, other without spear tip. But let say I fixed those problems... But I do admit, I am not really on a good terms with green stuff yet :)

Well, here are they:

Faces and skin finished, clothes painted with base colors.

It's been some time, but those two Rangers are now ready to join the others :)

And I don't want my board project to die, so I started making new board :) Already sanded, now waiting to get dry and then I can paint it :)

Any comments?

Really great job. I don't usually paint the eyes of my minis, but it's nice to see you did such a good job painting eyes.

Actually, I almost everytime painted the eyes from black, which left a thin black line around them... though it didn't looked well, so I decided instead to paint the whole face with base colour and wash and use that as a base for the eyes... looks more natural I think :)

Finished 3rd board :) It surprises me, that I actually made it so quick

Image

But here is a question... Should I apply a layer of Purity seal over all boards? What do you guys think? I never tried that, I am a little curious, if that would have any effect on the durability of the boards.

Getting to the end of models, which I acquired over the years - getting nervous for buying more, and finishing the last ones. So far on my desk stands those 4:

Image

Orc with a broken sword will from now one have a whip.. Just needed some green stuff to make it better. Easterling banner was primed long ago, but never got the opportunity to get painted. And Saruman with Grima, which I got chep on Ebay.

This will be a little different than my normal routine - I would normaly paint at least 4 or 5 warriros from the same army. Not that I have anything against painting now those four :)

After that, only 3 other models will be left. Imrahil, Thranudil (King of Mirkwood) and Warhammers Knight Heraldor. Never have I done anything else than Lotr and Hobbit stuff... I think that this Warhammer model will be a nice opportunity to learn something, maybe glazing.

Easterling banner getting slowly painted. Though, I think the armour still needs some silver edge highlightning, don't you think? And maybe his red cloak as well... can't really decide on that one.

Maybe some really subtle silver highlights would make the armour "pop" even more, yes.

So, there we have a finished Easterling banner. Took me long to paint it, but to say, I have been painting it really slow.

It's been some time, and I finally started painting this Saruman. I am excited, because I think this one really is a fantastic model... a lot of character in it :)

Too little time in the last month to paint faster... Oh well, somehow I am still painting Saruman. Slow, precisely :)

Image

This is how it looks so far. I hope to have enough time to finish it soon :)

Hello everyone :) I managed to get some painting done in the last two days. I am really taking a lot of time to paint this Saruman, because I want to do the model justice. There are still some places I need to work on.

For the first time I tried glazing on the cloak. There is still a room to improve, I know, but I think it looks ok for first try. I think that combining glazing and layering will get the best results :)

So, he looks like that so far. Any comments/criticism would be appreciated :)

I never worry about speed. Painting is a hobby and is supposed to be relaxing. Who cares if you only finish one or two models a month if you're enjoying yourself? If you're improving your skills, that's a bonus too.

If you want to speed things up, especially with an army, buy a can of spray primer. Spray all your Easterlings Khorne red, wash and ready for battle. The new White Dwarf magazine has "ready for battle" which is basically primed and washed and "finished", which has highlights applied. I really like this, it's perfect for both crowds; those who love to game and those who love to paint.
