2 Son of Eorl
----
Warband 2

2 Warrior of Rohan with Throwing spears; Shield;
2 Warrior of Rohan with Shield;

I have been agonising over the colour scheme for my Rohirrim, so while I wait for inspiration to strike I have started on some Uruk Hai...

Just a very early WIP:

A tip about the uruks: because the dark flesh and the red are very close, make a very bright highlight on the cloth and use brown wash, while in the flesh you will use black wash and make dirty and dump. I hope you the best.

Thanks for the hint - I did wonder if the colours were a bit too close - Hopefully the highlights will distinguish them.

Those Uruk-hai look good! 8)
Have you decided about a colour scheme for your Rohirrim?

Cheers,

Thanks :)

Still not, I want a greyish green for the cloaks, I think I need to actually get to the shop and have a look in person...

Interesting red cloth on uruks, not sure I ever saw that. Looks cool.
For the grey/green cloaks you may be better off mixing a color for that, though if you plan to do many,then mix a whole batch up. Experiment on paper, you can lay colors down you intend to use side by side on white or black and see if anything contrasts or doesn't feel right before getting deep into a model series.

The Uruk Hai pikes are done!

The red cloth is a bit close in colour to the flesh, but I think it works well enough :)

The Uruks look very nice. :) Can I ask which wash(es) you used? The armour in particular has a blackened look I'd like to replicate on some Warrior of Minas Tirith.

Thanks :)

All it was was a mix of black and "leadbelcher", then Army Painter strong tone, then highlighted with pure leadbelcher.

I really like those uruk-hai. 8) the bases suit them well. Although, and it might just be the flash from the camera, the top of the pikes seem too bright. They could use a bit more contrast.

Cheers :) I think it's flash, as in real life they just look like the rest of the armour.

Well done! :yay: I think your colour scheme and basing turned out nicely. Can't wait to see the whole army painted and lined up against those Rohirrim!

Cheers,

HD

Nice strong skin tone on these and the banner is excellent, very striking.
