Welcome to the SEPTEMBER (lol yes i know it said february 5 minutes ago.. slow day lol) Painting Challenge. This month you have chosen.

Image

Rules

YOUR CHALLENGE ENTRY DOES NOT HAVE TO BE GAME LEGAL.

If you are unsure as to whether something will be eligible for entry, just post asking or PM me and I will let you know whether or not you may use it.
Eligible entry combinations
1. A Warband of 8 foot models must contain one hero or generic captain.
2.A Warband of 4 Mounted models must contain one hero or generic captain.
3. A Warband made up of heroes only. This option must contain at least 4 hero models.

You may mix and match from the three options. For example 4 foot models and 2 mounted is an acceptable entry as long as at least one hero is included. Any problems or concerns just pm me and i'll help you out.

1.To complete the challenge a miniature must be completed by September 30th 2014

2. To enter the painting challenge, the miniatures you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniatures 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme) otherwise your entry will not be eligible.

3. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of September 30th 2014. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. A maximum of 8 photos of your completed entries please, this allows you to show your miniatures off from multiple angles.

4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to reduce their backlog and improve their painting skills.

5. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months.

Good luck to all

Sounds good, I only need to paint 4 of Thorin’s company not 8 which I might just manage.

I've been wanting to join one of these painting challenges for so long now, it's high time I do. Plus it works out perfectly for what I have to paint at the moment.

I shall be painting 8 Black Guard of Barad-Dur with Shagrat War Leader with a converted weapon leading them (Shagrat's stock weapon was too dull for my liking).

I'm glad there's an all hero option... I don't have any generic troops to paint. Not sure what I'll enter, if I even find time to enter... ringwraiths might be a bit easy to get done in time.

So to try and get moving on painting LOTR miniatures I am going to try and enter these challenges each month. For my warband I am going to paint up 8 old Mithril Mordor Orcs

Here is my proof photo. I’ll be attempting to paint a Thorin’s Company war band of Thorin, Dwalin, Dori, Nori & Ori.

I might have to pass this one. I have so many half-painted miniatures that I made a new backlog reduction oath: only start a new one after finishing two. :-)

[img][/img]I'll paint a mounted Captain of numenor and some Numenorians.
I still don't have internet in my house so hoping this pic will be okay :p
The Numenorians will be repaitned to fit into my current warbands, not sure to give them axes or not.

No chance for this one, I'm knee deep in my diorama.

Count me in for this one. I will be painting at least 4 of these unpainted members of Thorin's Company.

Provisional entry. I'd rather do some new mirkwood elves, but have a little bit more practice to get through before I feel I can do them justice. Also lack a suitable hero, and I'm a sucker for continuity.

Hi, new member (and hobbyist) here. Thought I'd give this a go (although my painting skills are far inferior to most on here) as it fits in with what I'm painting currently. I've got Balin (from EFGT set) and a box of Grim Hammers undercoated and ready to paint.
