Rules

1. A miniature is decided upon before each monthly painting challenge, this months' being Legolas. It is not required that you paint this mini, however it is preferred. Here is a list of other miniatures which would also be eligible for the challenge. There will no doubt be others that I have missed but the list will give you a general idea. Feel free to PM me if you would like confirmation if a model is eligible.

Legolas
Thranduil
Tauriel
Wood elf warrior
Mirkwood Ranger

2. To enter the painting challenge, the miniature you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniature 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme) otherwise your entry will not be eligible.

3. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of March 31st, 2014. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. A maximum of 4 photos please, this allows you to show your miniature off from front, back and each side which is more than enough.

4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to reduce their backlog and improve their painting skills.

5. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months.

Good luck to all!

Luckily I hadn't yet painted my Legolas and Tauriel.

I don't know which one will be my entry. Tauriel probably, because I have already painted several Legolases.

Oh noooo! :o Just when I was about to start something else, this pops up! I've had my Wood Elves at the back of my mind for some time, anyway. Sorry, Goblin Town, it looks like you're pushed to the back of the que again! (Though at least now you're all clipped from the sprues, cleaned up and glued to bases.)

Would Gildor be an acceptable alternative?

Here's my proof pic. Heroes of the West Legolas (undercoated). Some work has been done to the skin but I will be completely repainting that. Hope this is ok…

Does the woodland realm only consists of mirkwood, or would an armoured galadhrim warrior also be acceptable ? (and an unarmored metal Lorien archer?)

The unarmoured Lorien archer is definitely acceptable. If you are stuck for an acceptable entry then an armoured galadhrim will suffice.

Does it have to be a single miniature? I have 2 Legolas (Fellowship and Heroes of the West), a Sentinel of Mirkwood and 4 Lorien Elf bowmen to paint alongside 16 Wood Elf plastics. Is the group shot of metals acceptable or do I have to pick one?

Good advice, thanks Jonathan! It's definitely going to be a busy month for me. I have 3 Nazgul on horseback and 3 on foot to finish the bases on; 37 Goblin Town Goblins and the Great Goblin being basecoated now; these 23 Wood Elves to do and after that I've been eying my plastic Numenoreans. It'll be a 5-point month for the backlog oath for sure! :D
