Thinking about it for awhile now, think I will go for a Barrow Down with an open Barrow. Featuring Barrow Wights and Hobbitesssss.

Will post pics of unpainted minis ASAP

Well we could at least see it now by clicking the link, but you can get the whole image to show here if you copy the IMG code box rather than the HTML code box and paste it here.

EDIT: I've altered it for you

Yes, going to have a detachable barrow "roof" so I can use it as a gaming piece.

I live near the Kennet and Avon long barrow, so will use that for inspiration.

Enjoying reading your wip by the way Dom.

Ok, I'm in.

No idea what it will include, but this is such a good idea that I can't resist. I'm just thankful DurinsBane isn't entering.

I so wish I had the time to bring back the hobby in my life... but I guess I'll have to wait a couple more months to pick up a brush again...
Good luck all, looking forward to some nice and original masterpieces!

What an awesome thing to say. Thank you!

Here's my proof pic.

I went through my unpainted LOTR mini drawer and this blister caught my attention. Galadriel's pose is wrong for the Mirror of Galadriel scene and Celeborn wasn't there at the time either, so I might do "Farewell To Lorien" instead.

Thanks to the gracious approval by DMS, I will use the diorama challenge as a great excuse to ramp up my work on Helm's Deep. As you can see from the two proof pics, nothing whatsoever has happened since last July when I quickly cobbled together the skeleton for the Deeping Wall and Hornburg, and basecoated the Isengard and Rohan armies.

For the diorama challenge, I will focus on getting the exteriors of Helm's Deep done, and will most likely configure the piece to show the first assault on the Deeping Wall by the Uruk-hai... this way I don't have to do any horses & riders (or even the shale terrain), and I will also leave off the trolls and warg riders. It will be interesting to see how much I can complete by the mid-June (personal deadline).
