As yet again I left it too late to get a poll up to decide what this challenge should be I;ll set you guys a little challenge.

The theme for this month is a single HERO model must be painted (good or evil the choice is yours) tho one of the following must be incorporated in the finished piece for it to be eligible for voting.

NMM (Non Metallic Metals)
or
a scenic base

* A scenic base does not have to be anything huge. 25mm base is perfectly suitable.

Rules
If you are unsure as to whether something will be eligible for entry, just post asking or PM me and I will let you know whether or not you may use it.

A maximum of 1 miniature can be entered in this challenge.

1.To complete the challenge a miniature must be completed by October 31st

2. To enter the painting challenge, the miniature you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniatures 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme) otherwise your entry will not be eligible.

3. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of October 31st 2013. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. A maximum of 4 photos per model of your completed entries please, this allows you to show your miniatures off from multiple angles.

4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to reduce their backlog and improve their painting skills.

5. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months.

Good luck to all

So is it the scenic base itself that will be judged on it's merits, or the quality of the painting on a mini that happens to also feature a scenic base?

The models can be judged on both. When I vote on the challenges I always take the models base into consideration anyway.

Oh right, this will give me a chance to paint my Boromir and paint the NMM :D

Am I aloud to convert the miniature? I was thinking of raising his arm a little to give a bit more of a dramatic pose. :-D

Aw man!

I literally just finished IMO my best mini yet... I could have stuck him on a scenic base and I would have entered him in... :x

Ah well... Perhaps I shall try a different one...

Cool, this one suits me down to the ground this month, here's my entry - a reposed and hand-swapped Bilbo:

Image

Not sure if the scenic base counts as it's part of the model rather than something I made but I'll do my first attempt at NMM on Sting as well. There's probably not enough NMM or scenery to win (never mind the paint job!) but this was the next mini I was planning on painting anyway so it's all good!

Good luck all!

Hopefully this will pass for a scenic base, my gondor captain.

I'd do my Glorfindel with an attempt at NMM. I did the face already, is it still legit?
