Got something special planned, and just enough time to pull it off before the start of a school year.

A busy couple of nights painting and I think I've done ok. Actually I think it is my best effort to date. I may be improving after all!

I present to you Gimli son of Gloin.

He's based on a 2 pence coin if you're wondering!

Here are Dori, Nori and Ori assembled.

I hope to paint at least one of them, but don't hold your breaths... :-)

I finished painting this guy last night but he was already primed and it would be unsporting of me to present him as other wise. I don't believe that he is an acceptable entry under the rules of the competition, but I thoroughly enjoyed painting him and was happy with the result!

Undercoated minis are acceptable entries provided you took a proof pic in its undercoated state at the start of the month. You must have misread the rules. They clearly say minis can be unprimed, undercoated or even poorly painted prior to competition entry.

Woops, I don't have a proof pic which I would have happily taken but was silly enough not to read the rules properly, and as a result I am happy for this chap to sit this one out.

Yeah I might give this a go - I can't find Floi so I guess I will do one or all of these three. Staying away from Gimli for this one..

Looking good. Some ideas: If you want to improve further, this miniature seems to be a good starting point - you "just" need to apply some subtile highlights combined with good blending - I would not touch the face anymore however.

You can see old dried colour on the cloak - the little spots - thats a pity cause this can be avoided and the smooth look is ruined a bit.
