Blue Dragon did a very nice job to me, Wah Wing was a very close one wish there was a more upclose pic of them.

ah sorry about the image issues, I've got a new camera now which should help make it easier to upload etc.

Wah Wing and Chris your painting here is brilliant I will decide my 1st place later after anouther good look, Blue Dragon you have some great highlights and I also liked the fallen Realms style writing on Amdur, sir richard your bases look great, I also like your's Lord Hurin- the black and red combanation also looks really good. Gothmogthewerewolf's alternatite colour schemes are nice to see, as is the converted bowmen easterling by Meatboy1994, also grat job on the drums! Sacrilege83 both your banner and cirion's shiled also look excellent! Bilboofthewhitetower has done very well in showing how great dark models can look with very subtle highlights etc.

Great work folks, I went for Chris in the end - just love the subtle shading - very Middle Earth.

Well, I went for Meatboy1994. I really like the contrast on his reds, and the gold was good too. The only thing that looked off to me was the fletching on the arrows, it looked like there were no highlights, and it was just the base layer put on a couple times, but not covering too well. :x Other than that it was good though.

Glad to see there were lots of entries though. :)

Well, it was between Wah Wing, Meat Boy, and Chris.

Meat had brilliant colours on his entry, Chris had very crisp details and some very nice conversion, but in the end I went for Wah Wing as he managed to make Grimbold and Co. look very nicely weathered an realistic despite using an alternate colour scheme, well done mate. :)

First - well done everyone for actually finishing this challenge (more than I could do!) - lots of minis painted to a very high standard. Big kudos :yay: :yay: :yay:

Second - this has to be one of the hardest challenges to pick a single winner. Everyone has done a fantastic job. I think Chris's clean colours on the Rohan look amazing. Really beautiful work. The Easterlings are also excellent - Blue Dragon's red cloak is top notch and I love Meatboy's conversions. Really solid painting by everyone else - unfortunately I couldn't see Legolas's entry even after saving the picture.

To be honest, many of these entries are deserving winners, but I eventually went with Wah Wing only because I think he captured the 'realism' of the characters the best and I really liked the work on the banner. 8)

Well, another wonderful paint challenge with many great entries. I feel like commenting on every entry so bear with me :-D

Chris, your painting and conversions are out of this world. 8) Keep up the great work!
Blue Dragon, I really like your bases. They show great details. Also like the metal on the models.
Meatboy! The armour looks superb. I like your work very much.
Legolas, from what I can see, your models look well painted. Wish the picture was bigger though.
BOTWT, I always find your work inspirational! 8) The dark scheme throughout your models is very effective. The picture seems too dark though.
Lord Hurin, the blurry picture kind of eats at the models, figuratively, so details aren't there. Though, they still look great!
Gothmog, I can see great improvement, but the pictures are still a little fuzzy so details aren't very visible. You were my close 3rd runner up though.
And Wah Wing, well....... You need much improvement. Just kidding. I thought I did well. And I have 6 votes! That's the most I've ever had!

Sacrilege, you and Sir Richard were my two contending contestants for this challenge.
With the same models minus the heroes, the entries were both well painted. Sacrilege, I don't know if it's improvement in your eyes, but it is for me and that's what put you up there. Plus great painting for excellent models. I think the tie-breaker were the bases and faces. The skin on Cirion could use another lighter highlight. If you had more time like you said for the bases, I'd have an even harder time deciding as is.

So that means I chose Sir Richard! The bases are very well themed and the painting is very well done! 8)
For some reason though, (not your fault) I don't really like the captain standing on the orc. It doesn't seem right some how. :-D

In the end I went for Chris. Lovely models mate!

@ Wah Wing - some constructive criticism if I may? Overall your models were rather nice (leaving aside my dislike for the banner sculpt) and upon reviewing, your metallics were great and they were nicely based as well. The only reason I didn't end up voting for you was because I felt the cloaks were lacking something, a bit of oomph for something so predominant on the figures. Maybe the depth? I don't mean to sound critical, but just thought I'd explain that to you. I still think they're very nicely painted and that you should be proud of them :)

Wow, lots to consider this month...
First of all I really like all the entries, but have narrowed it down to these four...Chris, Blue Dragon, MeatBoy1994 & Wah Wing.

In the end I went with Wah Wing for his well rounded painting and original color scheme to Grimbold and his boys!

Well done all!! :)
