We've had a few join the forum over the years, but for some reason or another they all seemed to have moved on.

Well my wife paints and games though we both post under this/my user name. You can find her Gondor/Rohan force plus extras in the thread in my signature along with her Mantic Elf army (which she is currently working on) in the non-LOTR section.

We're actually really welcoming to female members in comparison to some sites. Many forums where the vast majority of members are blokes descend into chauvinism and frat boy-isms when a female member pops up. Whenever a lady joins up here, however, we usually avoid creeping her out and when they leave it's always due to moving on from the hobby itself.

Lord Hurin- sorry if I offended, I didn't mean to insult :) you're very right- the site, and the community is very, very welcoming, and, personally, I feel comfortable on this site :-D it has a good atmosphere.

You didn't offend me in the slightest, I was merely making note of how much better we tend to be with the fairer sex. Some sites are seriously leery and make an uncomfortable atmosphere.

Sarah, like your music, the Elven song was very Clannadesque and reminded me of the fairy queen track they did.

I'm playing the LotR campaign with a female friend, but she's not registered on the forum (yet). I keep encouraging her to join, though, as this is really a wonderful fellowship of great people from all over the planet. She doesn't paint or build terrain, though, that's all my doing. But we do plan the campaign and the scenarios together. We alternate playing good and evil from one scenario to another, and seem to be both rooting for the good guys even when playing evil. My wife, in turn, does not play but she did help me finish the Amon Hen terrain on time for the model show by doing some of the basecoat painting, flocking and soaking the terrain with scenic cement using an eyedropper, while I was busy painting Uruk-hai troops.

This is a massive problem online in general, especially in such hobbies as this. The ridiculous often sexist representations of women in fantasy, comics and sci-fi in general don't help either. I'd say that alone puts a lot of women off. This is probably off topic, but good food for thought.

Anyhow welcome to the forum, most people on here are indeed sound.

I've slowly been getting my girlfriend into the hobby. Not sure if it's a good idea as I believe she has the talent to be way better than me at painting! We were going to enter a Legolas each in this months painting competition but time got away. I'll be putting it up in my WIP if/when she finishes it.

I think we missed a crucial element of the question asked. The question posed was are there any female painters out there. Could you clarify? Are there any painters out there who identify as female? Or are there any painters out there who specialize in painting female figures ;) i'm just pulling your leg!
