I am about to start a new game board but in the past i was mostly building up ruins and this time its all about landscape!
What i am looking for is a guide on how to make more realistic rocky cliffs/hills edges. I did search the tomes of wisdom but i must say i was not satisfied enough with the result so any extra help is welcome.

P.S have in mind that the board will be snowy if that helps.

Those videos I made for how I made cliffs for this 100% modular scenery project (and many others).

I'm a big fan of Rubbish In, Rubbish Out on YouTube, and his method for this is to get pink foam and glue a few layers together for the appropriate height, then firmly press an actual rock against it to create texture. Then just drybrush and I think you're good.

Here's a link:

Also, some people make awfully good use of bark for cliff faces.

Go through this gentleman's terrain boards articles.
They will teach you all you need to know about using bark chips as rock faces and cliffs.

If you know how to use the "wayback machine" there was an excellent tutorial on the old Conquest Miniatures site on how to construct rocky terrain.
It's Conquest Miniatures, not Conquest Games.
Conquest Minis makes F&I War figures and the owner did an outstanding tutorial on how to construct a Last Of The Mohicans terrain board, complete with the high cliffs as shown in the movie. It's gone from his new site, but someone with better computer skills than me may be able to find it using the Wayback thing.

Here's a Wayback link to that Last of the Mohicans table, although the images aren't showing up for me :/
