I've been using Army Painter Poison Ivy with mixed results. What else is there to use or recommend?

Green stuff is a good option if you're willing to sculpt. You won't get the texture like the army painter stuff, but in a way, you can make it look pretty realistic still. Then you can paint it.

I done this on some ruins. I haven't painted it yet though. It looked pretty good to me. Wish I had some photos to show.

Alternatively, static grass could work. But I'm not sure if it has the effect of looking like vines, but still worth testing.

I have been trying to create a realistic thorn vine. I have also used the poison ivy with mixed result.

The poison ivy by itself.

The poison Ivy with more layers added.

Woodland Scenic makes a product that makes nice vines. It is more cost effective.

It comes in colors that complement the color flocking system they sell. You tear apart the fibers to create the vines then you add a contrasting flock for leaves and contrast in layers like drybrushing. That is the old hedgerow kit. I am not certain they still sell it with white metal trees.

One of my friends uses rubberised horse hair for trees/shrubs – it’s very stringy so could easily be used to represent vines I would have thought

Gardening wire, covered in a bit of polyfilla can work for the stalk. Mix used green or oolong tea leaves (from a teabag - not loose leaf) with PVA glue and apply in clumps for leaves. I just used these on an Ent I sculpted, to good effect.

The Birch tree seed spacers idea is awesome, looks fantastic. I will be looking into that one.
