My photos are too big, what should I do now. I tried to upload some photos to this site but then it said the photos were too big. Does anyone has some advice?

Hi I usually shrink my pics down to around 450 pixels this is done in the format drop down menu on the toolbar of my image software, I just click the image size option and then there are two windows that give me the option of either altering the height or width, I click the down arrow on the width box with the settings left to user defined and as I shrink the width to around 450 pixels the program compensates the height to match.

Hope that helps

This all depends on which paint program you have (if any). Its just a simple matter of 're-sizing' your pictures.
Paint Shop Pro is probably the easiest to use, but there are many programs you can use.

as far as I know there is no size or dimension limit in the forum threads so I assume you are talking about uploading pictures into the gallery?

there are two restrictions:
- the dimensions (800x800px max.)
- the filesize (120 KB)

after having cropped or resized your image (like others mentioned/recommended already) you can save your image 'for the web'.
this command varies in the different programs ('optimize for internet usage', etc.)
it all means the same: the jpg quality gets adjusted to meet certain filesizes.
the lower the quality is set the smaller the filesize.
so you can play around at sliders/knobs until the filesize is below 120 kb.

the more detailed a pic the more 'space' such details need in the filesize.

one tiny mini against a unicoloured background could be saved at jpg quality 80 or very high and look crisp and don't exceed 120 KB, while a pic of a large detailed highelves' army might need to be saved at jpg quality of low (or 20-30) to stay below 120 KB but look a bit 'blocky' then...

usually web saving dialogs in programs gives you choices and settings you can easily change until it meets your needs.

On photobucket, when you upload photos there is an option to resize them, that's how I do it.

Well..seeing how a two year old thread has had a question put into it there must be a spark of interest in resizing photos. The fastest and easiest way I have found is a download called pix resizer it's freeware from http://bluefive.pair.com 8) too easy.

Actually, if you look a little bit harder, you will find there is no other question being asked other than the original '2 year old post'...just more answers from members who already know how to resize pictures, each of who, is answering a '2 year old post'

:-D Honestly there is a reason for the little "Posted:" bar on the top... to stop people reviving absolutely ancient threads. I did the myself once... was it an '06?

Well I normaly use bebo, but you can also use photobucket or gimp. It's easy enough to resize them once you have done it once or twice.

First it picks up after 2 years, then again a comment even though last time was march... *shrugs*

Well, the Mircrosoft Picture Manager got a resize option, just put in the dimensions you want and press change.
