First fruits of the Warlord/Italaeri alliance:
http://store.warlordgames.com/products/ ... boxed-set/
http://store.warlordgames.com/collectio ... edium-tank
The stone walls could be anywhere any time more or less - even Middle-earth.
As for the M4, I hope they bring out more variants (Warlord already make a lot in resin but I prefer plastic).
It's a beautiful tank, Moriarty. None of the negative waves...

This is my German 8-Wheeled Heavy Armored Car Sd.Kfz.232 for my Bolt Action German army. Amazing vehicle, designed in the 1930s, 8 wheel drive with 8 wheel steering, could be driven from even end!

I painted it using the Hair Spray method (go on youtube to see it) first time i had tried it and i am pleased. Basically you cover the basecoat in hairspray, then add the top cost, when dry scrub with a small wet brush and the top coat comes away, giving a great distressed look.

Spotting 8-wheeled armoured cars was the confirmation that the Afrika Korps had arrived. These are great looking armoured cars though you need to remember that their armour is quite thin. I like the 234/2 Puma - in many ways it is the precursor to the modern armoured car.

So anyone going to get the new Waffen-SS Charlemagne division? I really like the minis and will probably pick up the set just to do a display of simply because I think they're really nice sculpts. Link below:

Also a quick question: would you recommend Afrika Korps over British 8th Army in terms of the plastic box sets or is a much-of-a-muchness? I'm not sure which one to collect... Which one would be more fun to paint?

Well I simply had to draw you guys' attention to this new set. It looks like another selection of very fine sculpts from Warlord. German Heer with Infra-Red Assault Rifles! Fantastic! :)

A technology I didn't realised that they used

Indeed I wasn't aware of such technology back then but I wouldn't doubt it due to all the technological advances made because of and during the war.

Oh and have you taken advantage of the half-price plastics sprue sale Warlord are running at the minute? It's a wonderful idea they have and I think it's really cool the way they run these special deals every few months. I might pick up some Soviets and British and mix and match some German weapons in with them. Some plundered MP40s amongst a British strike force would look pretty cool! :)

Germans led the world in night fighting technology.
The first military night vision devices were introduced by the German army as early as 1939. The first devices were being developed by AEG starting in 1935. In mid-1943, first tests with infrared night-vision (Nacht Jager) devices and telescopic rangefinders mounted on Panther started. Two different arrangements / solutions were created and used on Panther tanks. Solution A - Sperber FG 1250 (Sparrow Hawk), with range up to 600m, was made up of one 30 cm infrared searchlight and image converter operated by the commander. From late 1944 to March 1945, some Panzerkampfwagen V Panther Ausf G (and other variants) mounted with FG 1250, were successfully tested. By the end of World War II, the German army had equipped approximately 50 (or 63) Panther tanks, which saw combat on both the Eastern and Western Fronts. The "Vampir" man-portable system for infantrymen was being used with Sturmgewehr 44 assault rifles.
You can find more details and photos online.

And in case those who play British in Bolt Action were feeling left out - a new triple box featuring a brand new plastic universal (aka Bren gun) carrier and 15 plastic infantry:
http://www.warlordgames.com/new-british ... boxed-set/
These are probably the vehicle most associated with the British all the way through the war, in all theatres.

Bolt Action are really pushing out the new plastics - I like the appropriately named tank battle box (considering the film of the same name coming out shortly):
http://www.warlordgames.com/pre-order-a ... arter-set/
And now the Panzer IV is available in a 3 versions in one kit!

Just when the number of 28mm plastics from Warlord is really picking up, here comes another company making more new plastic 28mm (1:56) scale - very nice looking kits. PSC is the UK distributer and there are others for other countries - worth considering especially as these guys put multiple variants in each kit!

Nice find Dorth, played the new "Tank War" rules for the first time this week, Germans against the Russians, really good fun and work very smoothly combining the current BA rules with the new ones for vehicles.
