Someone has started a FB group called Age of Sigmar for Lord of the Ring - LOTR. There's some thoughts on Minas Tirith on there now. Can't imagine I'll use it but never say never and if people enjoy it then fair enough.

I ran a LOTR game at the local club once converting In Her Majesties Name to LOTR for players that like LOTR but hate the SBG system. And there are plenty of them. If you're happy playing then that's about all that counts.

I wonder how Lotr Kings of War would be like, since WotR didn't do to well in a unit block game.

It is not that LOTR would not do well as a traditional War Game. GWs version did not do well. The few times I was able to play it in my game group it went over like a lead balloon. They did not dislike it they hated it.

GW,s list are designed to sell miniatures not to create a balanced game.

It is not like the group will not play LOTR  they won't play GW's version.

It's funny because there were several in Montreal that built up armies to play that WotR game, I only played a few, didn't pan out too well in our group. All that army building for nothing :'(

I'll try out KoW2.

^Why would you do that, when SBG game mechanics has always been positively received and is already mostly balanced? You wish to challenge Warhammer orcs with your Warriors of Minas Tirith???

i meant to use some as proxies and heroes like aragorn as cool AOS heroes.

In a word, awesomely! One of the best things about it from a LotR perspective is that all units are fixed sizes and models are never removed, so you can put your LotR minis on the appropriate size movement tray and play. Similarly, as the specific number of models doesn't matter, you can take the standard LotR Warband of 12 models, stick them on the right tray and they're a standard Regiment of '20' models.

The game itself is very fun, very fast and very easy to learn (but hard to master). Positioning is key, and there are plenty of comparisons to chess to be made; you do need to set up moves in advance, cover your units, know when/what to sacrifice ect. I could go on, but a quick Google search will turn up plenty of more thorough reviews.

i hope that gw releaces red slayer minis, they look better then normal slayers. i noticed that durthu is in the pre-order section, he has been around for longer then that.

The Dryads, Branchwraith and Treeman sets are simply repackaged with round bases, and in the case of the Dryads, with an extra sprue of models in the box (at slightly incresed price). Not actual new releases.

I have heard AoS described as Fantasy 40K....
I am sticking with Middle-earth but I am experimenting with a variety of rules - when I get the chance. KoW appeals though I think larger units should be allowed for orcs.

the stormcast eternals need a different helmet. i think it would be cool to see some in grey knight terminator helmets.

I have been thinking, grimnir died, but the Gotrek part of grimnir is in the realm of chaos. Let's hope GW brings him out and creates a new mini and rules.
