Thanks for all the comments! I'm pleased with how the banner came out but its certainly not Golden Demon worthy (as I wish I could someday attain). However, for my first attempt and an intricate freehand - I'll take it. He's certainly worthy of tabletop play in my opinion.

However, I have to admit, that even having painted it twice, I'm not very excited at the prospect of painting a version of it for the Gamling on foot!

I also finished up his Base so he's ready for the Battle of Pelennor tomorrow:

I think he turned out great Brent...something you should be proud of. :D
Good luck with your "Battle of Pelennor", I hope that Gamling does you proud!

Here's another start to an army I'm considering. This is the first of many Woses Warriors that I've got coming. He just needs war paint around the face and sholders and to finish up the base. I'm going to wait a get a few more of these guys before I put on those details.

Very nice, Brent! I'm not sure what I think of the yellow hue to the skin (even though that's what the 'Eavy Metal fellows did as well). I'll have to re-read that section of Tolkien again because I don't really remember how he described the Woses...and it's never too soon to re-read Tolkien!

Nice job Brent!
I decided after watching Apocalypto (the Mel Gibson film) I am going to go with a darker skin color and add a few minor conversions to a few to set them apart from one another. I also have a plan to go with a the war paint theme like the natives in the Pirates of the Caribbean to throw in some variance to their look.

Yup, me too. With 50+ of these I'm going to need several conversions to break up the monotony!

So you've decided to go for the Woses army then Brent?

Best of luck to you, though if they all look like that one, you won't need luck. Brilliant job...and good luck on the warpaint!

Well, I haven't fully committed to it yet. But I'm definitely thinking strongly. And usually, when I think strongly, my credit card breaks out.

Somehow that sound familiar...never a good thing when the card breaks out! :D

I think your painting was well done for your woses Brent, but I cant just get over how much I hate them. I went back to the books and I just don't think these minis hit anywhere near the mark for me. They don't look like native Americans, they don't look like wild Celtic people, they are to me just some God awful spawn, I really don't like the sculpts, I imagined the woses to look more like large awkward fat Celtic druids, not a mix between that and native Americans with a bit of orc thrown in.

I finished 3 more Wildmen of Druadan - only 52 more to go! Well, and actually they aren't finished because I need to add to the bases and warpaint. All in good time. Here's the start of my meager army.

Nice work Brent! I can imagine all the little details like their rag/scarve things and the blowpipes being hard to paint (for me anyway  ) and you've done a really good job!

I finished 8 Woses in total now. I'm taking a break from them for a bit (still got 49 more to go!). In the meantime, in anticipation of Harad coming, I decided to build my Mumak. I wanted to convert him in a number of ways, most especially with a trumpeting head pose and tusk weapons.

I was shocked at how fiddly the Mumak pieces really are. This is my first really big model so I don't know what I was expecting. I decided to work in sub-assemblies. In the end, I'll assemble the whole Mumak (head to tail) but I'll paint the Howdah separately and glue them together at the end.

Here's the start:

Image
I cut its neck off so that I could re-position the head in more of a trumpeting fashion. The metal rod is being held in place by cured "Fixit Sculpt" (sort of like greenstuff). The rod will be used to pin the head on the model and help me form the neck area.

Image
Here is the levels of the howdah. Need a bit of greenstuff on the top level, otherwise, I can get them primed to go.

Image
Here's a shot of the head. You can see where I cut the trunk into 3 pieces and I need to greenstuff around to recreate it. I obviously added spikes for the tusk weapons. I'm going to make wrappings on that out of greenstuff. I also cut one tusk down and hollowed it out to reflect the age and battle wear on this Mumak.
