I would recommend the Renedra plastic bridges - I bought 4 to use in SAGA scenarios and they drybrush nicely. =)

I can't see them on their website, just a pontoon bridge, unless that is what you mean?

Today I have Tom Bombadil and Goldberry to show:

Ah, yes, sorry, it's not entirely clear but - it is called a Pontoon Bridge but you don't have to build it with the pontoons!

These are two of the ones I built. If you want something simple and light that you can put over any river I think they're perfect.

Great work on those two strange inhabitants, come merry dol!

Thanks for the kind words!

And yes, those bridges do look great, I see some of those in my future, as well as perhaps some of their castle walls to make the Deeping Wall for Helms Deep if the dimensions are good enough!

Post subject:  Re: Slinky's PLOG 10th October - Amon Sul test piece

The ForgeWorld Amon Sul comes with a small stand-alone piece.

I have painted that up as a test for my planned colour scheme. I think it looks okay... Any suggestions for improvements?

I used the newish GW"Creeping Vines" and plan to add them sparingly to the rest of the terrain too.

Ooh, is that the new GW plastic-but-not-plastic vine?

Yeah, seems quite good so far, I was able to bend it round to fit the contours fairly easily, by moving along and supergluing a bit at a time.

On my Moria walls and statues I used Athonian-Camoshade as a wash, also have used Secret Weapon's Stone Wash depending on my mood :)

For highlighting try some of GW's dry paints, I enjoy using Terminatus Stone and Underhive Ash with Armgaddon Dust closer to the ground.

Look at https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/135321 ... stone-wash for the stone wash examples.

Warhammer Community had a tutorial on how to use the vines.

After a long slow process, Glorfindel and Frodo on horse are now done:

Not based, as it's just too cold for spraying, they will have to queue up until the spring now, probably...

Feel your pain on cold weather hindering spraying, I have several figures waiting for warmer weather or at least having a door open to spray on the final dullcote.

That is a very well done Frodo! Did you keep the parts of Arwen you cut off for future conversions/parts?

Cheers! As it turned out, mostly thanks to my clumsy use of clippers, there wasn't much left - I still have her arm and sword in case it comes in handy one day ;)

wait, is that a conversion? I can barely tell, it's so well done

Post subject:  Re: Slinky's PLOG 27th January - Converted Dunlendings

Following the realisation that I was never going to play Darklands, I sold off quite a few of my models.

But I kept the ones I really liked, which includes the Duguth spearmen.

For LOTR I need some Dunlendings for the Two Towers scenarios, but the GW models are OOP and v expensive on eBay even for obvious recasts.

For the scenarios, I need a chieftain, a banner bearer, 6 with shield, 6 with bow and 6 with 2-handed axe. None with spears, so I took a look at the spearmen, thought "what the hell" and had a bash at converting them into axes. What do you think?

CONVERSIONS:

The one at the back already had an axe from another Darklands figure as I had lost his spear hand somehow :) Note that I also rebased them onto 25mm rounds.

These look very cool! Both color combinations are quite eye-catching, but I think I prefer the yellow/blue. The command looks great as well, I love the snowy bases.
