There is a lot of texture apparent in the scales - should be a joy to paint.

Im just about dome with the head section. I've gone in with green on the hard scales and the tips of the spines and I am happy with the look, just checking the client is!!!

Looking pretty damned impressive Mally, this is going to be an outstanding 'miniature'.

Thanks Phil. My aim is to have this as one of the best versions around, which will be aided by the amount of brush work I'm doing. A lot of others have been basically AB all over with a couple of touches here and there.
Since these photos I've gone back in again and touched the highs some more.
That's now put away and I'm priming the body.

Duuuudee, that Smaug is impressive!
It's nice to see the model has so much detail. :)
I'm still in doubt if I should get one...

Very good work so far! Can't wait to see it finished! :yay:
The eye is done stunningly well! Quite appropriate for a dragon which can also quite literally stun people. :)

Great job Mally, Mr. Smaug is coming along very nicely. How much do you think you have left to paint for him?

Loads ! But there are some big areas that will cover fairly quickly. Then there's the wings !
I'm hoping by the month end I will have made big inroads. I hope so as I've plenty more jobs in the pipeline.

This model is huge!! Remind me again, are you using brushes or airbrushing it? I'm trying to be nit-picky to help you improve, but I can't see anything wrong. 8) My one concern is about color consistency. With you painting in different sections, are the skin tones all going to match?

@ Wah wing, he's going brush only...

Well, this beast is coming along quite nicely. I really like the colouring that you're going for, it works well. As far as feedback goes, are these new main sections done? It may just be the pictures, but the red/black does not have anywhere near the definition or colour variation as the underbelly scales. In some pictures the black stuff looks good, and in the first picture I can see some highlighting and such on the red (the lines for his ribs (or whatever they are) look good. Oh, and the two little slashes on his tail look good as well. Basically right now the difference between the very well defined underbelly and the seemingly flat red is jarring, but that may be different irl.

Keep up the good work, I'm intrigued with what you'll do with the wings...it's going to be magnificent whatever you do!
