Unless it is Radagast. Meeting of the three wizards.

Finished my mounted Gandalf - see I have a few touchups to do.

That's wonderful! The hobby "al fresco." The moss is the perfect size for the miniatures. I love the birch trees too.

Thanks Gangleri, I had moved them in and put on my window sill when the afternoon light hit them. Had to take a few more pictures. :-D

I had bought a fellbeast off of Ebay a while ago, it didn't have a tail or the rider. Added a tail from a warhammer bit, primed it black and added to the base and promptly put it aside as I was a little intimidated by it's size and how to do the wings.

Looking at it I decided I needed to do something to it, painted the body and the wing structure stormvermin fur and then drybrushed the wings with steel legion drab and the body with a silver/grey mix.

I'm happy with the way the wings turned out just doing the drybrushing, at some point I would really like to learn how to do airbrushing, especially for larger models.

Nice!

With the new box set containing a fell beast, you may find it easy to get a new rider for that one fairly cheaply, hopefully :)

Looks good! I too was intimidated by the size when I painted mine, but it was actually a lot of fun and easier than I expected.
Good job! :yay:

Slinky - thanks! Depending on the price point I might buy the new box set - however - I already have too many Rohan to paint as it is

But, if you buy the boxset and have an extra fellbeast rider you want to trade - pm me. :-D

PoW - thanks - it was your brown wings you had done on your fell beast that inspired me to go that way.

Wanted the Necromancer to appear that he was floating so I put a round head bolt into the base with some broken decorative glass embedded in the pumice gel I use for basing.

Image

Tired of painting black, went with dark red and purple paint with purple tone and nuln oil washes.

Took pictures outside for better lighting but he looks better inside where the figure appears darker but still not black.

Very nice! Good idea with the bolt. Funnily, I also recently got the Necromancer and was playing with the idea to let him float. Looks nice though!

In one of my bulk purchases from Ebay, I had received some Warriors of Rohan and Warriors of Minas Tirith in various shades of disrepair (broken weapons, thick paint jobs).

Stripped them as best I could and put them aside.

Wanting to do an outpost in southern Gondor (Harondor, along the river Harnen) I needed to convert some Warriors of Minas Tirith to a more desert theme.

I originally was going to take some Warriors of the Last Alliance and replace the heads and shields with Minas Tirith to keep the capes which I felt were needed in the southern climes to keep cool. I started with some Rohan warriors at first just to add variety but then I realized I had enough to do the whole garrison that way. So a pile of severed heads and arms later, I now have my Gondor Garrison ready to man the remote outpost. Will have to go with Rohan defense numbers instead of Minas Tirith since they are now more lightly armored than Minas Tirith warriors.

The whole garrison:

The spearmen:

The archers:

The swordsmen:

For the command I was going to use a fully armored Warrior of Minas Tirith but then I remembered I had Beregond who had a cape and would work well with the rest of the garrison.

The command:

Still have one more conversion to go, but as it is metal with metal it will take awhile and a bit more careful cutting.

That was an amazing idea, can't wait to see them painted.
Now you make me wonder if I could do the same with rangers/minas tirith for my upcoming ithilien force

The Haradrim are my first love, so it's always nice to see conversions of their hated enemy to fight them in the desert. I feel bad for the WoMT too, maybe that armour is reflective? I bought a box of Fireforge templars and used them for my sailors and desert forces. They're painted blue to go with Dol Amroth and the ones with the flowing skirts became KoDA conversions. I gave them ebob swan helmets and they look pretty good.

Really nice idea. I really like the idea of militia units in Gondor only getting certain pieces of standardized arms and armor. The look given by the uniform helms, shields, and arms really sells the concept to me. I wish I had the time to work something like that up for myself. Nice work!

Very nice conversions and great colour scheme! Very believable for a southern Gondor force, especially during their occupation of Umbar.

I love how Khamul on his rock totally looks like the polar bear in the documentary I just watched. The apex predator, sniffing the air, totally nonplussed [US usage of word]; his mace the size of a human's head.

Bring it, you punks!
