Do you remember the big WiP mentioned even in the first post of this topic?
It's still in progress, though i managed to photograph along with the help of a dear friend all that is finished.
Started as a joke several years. I wasn't a huge fan of Harad, but i loved the Mahuds (both stats/game-wise and the models). So i started with the boring ones (see Harad) in order to continue with the camel riders, so as to use them as allies in army lists.
But as the Harad army grew in numbers, i gradually started to enjoy it.
Now, i have almost completed the numbers i want of on foot models, currently working the Golden King of (not) Abrakhan, who will be the leader of my Karna warbands. After that's finished, I'll go for the mounted models (Suladan,7-8 Haradrim Raiders and 5 Serpent Riders).
I divided the army (again, as with the Rangers) in two colour schemes, in order to provide a bit of diversity.
So the ones clad in blacks/reds/purples are the followers of Suladan (unfortunately still unassembled/unpainted) and the rest come from Karna (wearing more warm/earthy colours).

Believe it or not, not a single miniature from the Mahud range and the Mumakil are painted.
Hopefully in the months that are coming I'll start working on them. 8)

Here comes the photo-avalanche.

The Harad Host so far

All the way from Karna

The watchers use the same colour scheme but I added blacks to make them look a bit more sinister. I consider them to be some of the worst sculpted minis of the entire range.

Some of the specials/characters

Suladan's guards were finished a few weeks ago.Not really loved the models, a bit difficult in the batch painting but now I'm relieved they're done.
Image

I decided to give only to 3 of them those ugly horns on the back. That way I can distinguish them amongst the rest, as lieutenants.

This is my converted Suladan's banner bearer.

Check the serpents on the cloths.

Very beautiful army there. Looks really good having two different schemes, it makes it look like an allying Harad army which I think is quite themed.

That is a really awesome looking force! The other colour scheme looks great, I think I prefer it to the normal one! Really desert looking... All those Freehands on the banners and so on are well done as well, you must have an amazing collection! 8)

That was really the plan all along. To present them as a tribe living in a harsh environment, whose clothes should help them stand the heat of Harad.
Anyway, the Golden King is now finished and assembled (that was the "tricksy" part), however I'm not really pleased with these colours on his robes. Maybe a wrong decision to paint him in this scheme. I hope I'll be photographing him soon, so as the rest of you to provide me with C&C.

Back to new photos now, Osgiliath Veterans Part II ... :-D
I just love the opportunities that this type of warriors offer in terms of converting them. Simple use of a knife will make ordinary warriors of Minas Tirith look quite dented, battle worn, almost ruined. But they need some extra gear, all those precious bitz which will make them distinguish themselves next to some normal troops. I think it's the only type in this game that can give so many conversion opportunities.

A captain to lead this company.

The middle one on the next two photos is one of our favourite. Reminds us of a friend here. :-D

And a second blister of the GW Osgiliath Veterans.

P.S. I have to give my thanks to my dear friend Kostas who taught me everything i know regarding assembling/converting/painting/basing/blah blah and we almost share our collection of minis. The veterans were a kind of a teamwork. We both converted and painted all of them and we would give them to each other whenever we got bored or tired with each model to get the job done.

P.S.S. We're out of ideas for new and different Veterans. Please help!!

Great work!
I don't really have ideas for you, as you mostly provided me with some new ideas :D

What kinds of grass do you use? (type, manufacturer)

The lack of horns on the Serpent Guard is troubling, but on the whole the Haradrim and Gondorians are amazing, well done :yay:

Excellent work, these really look fantastic.
As for ideas, you only have two archers, another would be a nice addition. How about having a patch on one eye ? He would be guaranteed to be the best shot.

Correctly. We had decided not to make many archers, because in-game they are more valued as fighters and not shooters, but since we got eventually too many Veterans, as a collection we should make 2-3 armed with bow to get the numbers more balanced.
You're right, sir, and I'll have to dig for bitz to make some. As for the eye-patch, it's an excellent idea!

I don't know why, but I found those horns terrible and a bit warhammer-ish for my taste. That's the reason I was never tempted to play WHF, I'm not enthused with the miniatures.

I use quite a big range of different "grasses", some of ArmyPainter, but for the Veterans, we mainly primed ordinary grass, along with the rest model, in order to give some more volume and then drybrushed it with several greens.

Now, I'd like some criticism for the lazy King of Harad (intended to be the leader of my Karna warbands).
As stated in a previous post, I 'm not exactly satisfied with the result, mainly because of the colours, maybe you'll motivate me to do some alterations.

The colours are different but I think are excellent, you have used a wonderful palette.
There is very little to critique, the paints look a touch thick in places and could have been watered down a little more. For example, the ropes tying the base of the wooden fan on the King look like wraps of bandage. Some more work on these to pick out the detail would help.

Thanks Gandlaf for the comment.
In deed, in this case, not only is the King lazy, but also me while painting him, I did a lot of sloppy things on him.
Anyway,
I started yesterday 3 Mahuds as a test to see how I should proceed with them.
Once more,comments are needed.
Thanks!
