Mate, what can I say other than wow. Filthy, realistic and stuffed with atmosphere. Never liked that mini before but seeing this has made me want to order one.

Very nice! I love the dirty muddy look it has! And the splashing water effect on the base is just genius :D

An awesome "mini"ature!

First things first Kev
The conversions are first class done to an expert level. The Orc on the front is the stand out one - was that you or Dave that was responsible ?
The painting is some of your finest work and that is credit enough.
The base fits perfectly and the overall finish could not be better.

Awesome! As hannanibal said, it's totally jam-packed with detail and such a attention gives you a feel for the atmosephere.

I personally think the base (and possibly the mini too (though it is hard to choose)) is your best yet. I especially like the branches and the water splashes! I'm not suprised you took so long on it... simply fantastic :yay:

I think its a shame you deleted you old thread as I liked to trawl through it and be inspired, but yes it was getting rather huge (and hard to find things).

Thanks for the great comments guys. I've missed this place of late.

All the construction work and the finecast spear to metal spear conversion was done by Dave. I just applied the paint work. Thanks again Dave - couldn't have done it without you buddy.

@Sid - all my work is still readily available in the The Dead Marshes
It was getting impossible to find anything in my old thread.

Cheers guys -very happy :)

That has to be the understatement of the year. I just put em together Kev. It's your outstanding PJs and realistic basing that brings them to life.

Excellent work, allover really but especially on the skin - which not only is noticable because it's such a big area, but despite that is often just 'grey' instead of this much more realistic approach. Ragtag appearance of the orc rabble and lovely base finish it of nicely, definitely one of the best pieces you've done.

I don't usually use such phrases, but in this case it's justified to say it's a more appealing paintjob than the 'Eavy Metal team have given this mini.

Flabbergasting, once again! And though I'm not a fan of the design, the painting is absolutely fantastic. The beast itself looks very realistic, the skin looks extremely rhino-like (also with the darker spots at places, I reckon that must've been hard to get right). :yay:

The water splashing is also fantastic. Love it!

Pyjamas? Must be a Ringwraith thing... never mind.
This is easily the best example of this beastie I have seen yet, both in the modifications, painting and basing, not to mention overcoming the often-reported problems with warped and bubble-ridden castings. A great piece like this is very, very attractive. Touches like the splashes are just magical. Very, very well done DMS (with assistance from UKFB and The Pyjamas).

As with the others I've gotta gush on the quality of the piece, the model is superb (I wouldn't have expected anything less), but that base makes it for me! I don't like bases that are overly ornate and add height to the model because I game, and for me it actually detracts from the battlefield's atmosphere, but this base is a master-piece, its incredibly detailed and beautiful in its execution but still reserved enough so as to not detract from the atmosphere of the game, but instead to greatly add to it!
Well done sir, this gets my vote for your best piece yet.

The varied, dirty skin of the beast is the best part, in my opinion. Excellent work, sir!
