Seeing a horribly painted figure and repainting it to a high standard is one of the best feelings ever. :) Great job!

Thanks all and Danke Matt!
Your comments are really encouraging!

Today I have a little Isengard Update. Saruman is a bit older, don't know when I painted him. I gave him a Orthanc-ish base, that's why it will stay black probably. The other minis aren't based yet. The Uruk scouts were painted in November, I also started the standard bearer and captain conversion back then. Those two are still not finished.. the skin still needs a few finishing touches. Gríma is finished but unbased. I did him around christmas too. Unfortunately the photo doesnt show very well, that his cloth under the black coat are greenish. I made them that way because Gríma still was one of the Rohirrim and I wanted him to go with their colour scheme a bit.

Enjoy:

Ok.. you guys don't seem to like Isengard that much :(

This time then some real WIP. I recently got a bunch of High Elven Warriors.. but, many of you may agree.. the lack of different poses is boring. So I started some conversions on them. A big inspiration were those fabulous conversions I saw here: viewtopic.php?f=50&t=11993&hilit=convert+high+elves&start=460

Oh.. and don't mind the shield pls. I lacked shields and tried to make one from cardboard.. Just let me tell you that I got some plastic Galadhrim shields now. I hope it still looks ok, if I put those next to High Elf spearmen..

Wow, nice conversions.

Not too sure about the size of the shield though...

Thanks!
Yeah, i know.. it was just a (not very successful) try. I will replace it with a Galadhrim shield soon.

Hi,

your minis really do look good! The faces on the three hunters are very good...I struggle a lot painting eyes... The troll looks very realistic and close to the one in the film-exellent!

the white hand freehands (bit of an irony that  ) are excellent, great 'painted on' kinda feel if you get what I mean :yay: :yay:

I really like the way you do metalics too... Very nice indeed!!

I like the high elf conversions!!

:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Thanks Gunslinger! To be honest.. it took me a lont time until i managed the eyes! For the mounted Theoden which I painted in summer I needed like 10 tries until I was happy. It got a lot easier when I finally bought the Citadel fine detail brush. (I usually go for a white spot on black priming, then use bestial brown for dark skin tones.)
What still bothers me is, that my "skin" looks very regular... no real highlights or anything. A bit boring imho. If anyone has tips for that..? :)

Lol Sid, I didn't blame you! Thank you for your comment nevertheless! I get what you mean and I really like to draw the white hand freehands.. If you like, I have some beserks too, which I could show.

There's some nice stuff in this thread, Sarumand Grima are looking very elegant. Those elf spearmen look really good. I think you should keep the high elf spears though. Nice uruk captain as well. :yay:

Nevermind Sid. Here come the Berrzerrkahs just for you! :D I fear one of them was a bit incautious and now he got Rohirrim-blood splattered all over his nice white hand freehand..
And thank you Werewolf! What do you mean though by "keep the high elf spears"?

nice work. the elf conversions came out well.

if you are looking for elf shields, check out Scibor miniatures. They have some nice elf shields (link).

I used them for my high elf army conversions (link). They worked really well.

Thank you for that tip philoking!
(although as I said before.. I have some spare Galadhrim shields now and also got 6 HE spearmen really cheap on ebay.. so maybe I could try to mold some.. endless possibilities :) )
I really like the colour scheme of your elves. Reminds me a bit of the one in the Hobbit film. When I'm going to paint them I'll definitely will try out the Rivendell scheme.. I really liked this one.

Today I have for you some recently finished Warriors of Rohan conversions. Mainly repositioning of arms, head- and weapon-swaps, but I wanted them to look different from my first 12 Warriors. One of the archers had to "lose" his helmet, but got long hair instead to resemble the "hunter of the king" from the commando box.
Let me know what you think about them and if you have more ideas for conversions! (Especially for archers)

Good work buddy! Seeing this type of things makes me consider trying some conversions myself...

Maybe Warriors of Minas Tirith into Warriors of Arnor. Watch this space and keep up the good work :)

I really like what you did with your King's Huntsman conversion, in fact it reminds me of something I did a few months ago:

Thank you all, and Matt that hunter looks great! I will be happy if mine looks half as good when finished :D

Today another little update: Théoden King and Erkenbrand (my favourite mini! If anybody has a spare Erkenbrand on foot.. I'd be definitely interested!). Erkenbrand is about to be based btw.. you can expect an update on him this weekend I guess.. I most likely will switch from Goblin Green on my old bases to a better looking Bestial Brown.. a lot of repaint waiting for me ^^
