Yeah, I'll probably wait. Don't know if I have an appropriate hero though, and I want to do something in between to try some new stuff, and get back into the swing. I#m moving house and starting university though, time may be against me.

Back in the habit. Started these with some trepidation, but i soon got back into it. Just getting the basic colours down before I shade them in.

Focused on this chap today. Tried having the light hit him from the side.

That's nice of you to say, thanks. I'd been living in my mother's temporarily, and painting on the new kitchen table was a no no. Thankfully I've got my own place from Sunday, with lots of room, I may even make a full size gaming board.

Few entries for this months competition (probably). Quite pleased with the skin tones, and the blends. Bit warmer than normal (following Jennifer Haley's DVD). Mostly glazes with a bit more brown than reds. Going to highlight the skin again once the rest is done.

Image

Used a thin wash of teal before I did the skin on Thrain, Ideally to create some contrast with the red clothes and armour. Hopefully this works. Any ideas on how to draw attention to the face welcome.

You paint the face green and then add a fluorescent effect to draw said attention lol. For myself I try to mute other colors a bit more with a black under-coat while I under-coat faces white

Focused on the armor and metallics today. Want to give maybe 2 more glazes in the shadows and some spot highlights. Mixed in a bit of green for the shade. Quite please with the progress, so much so that I want to re-do some nearly finished grimhammers.

Great stuff Gene. I always enjoy your painting. I have some dwarves coming at the end of the month and I'll be sure to use this thread for inspiration!

Thanks mate, quite pleased with these if I do say so myself. Probably won't get them done by the end of the month though.

I switched painting techniques a few months ago, so if you want any tips on how to get any of those tones I'm happy to help.

Looks good. Will be nice to see a brown scheme for these, the natural tones are fitting.

Loving the faces Gene, almost photographic. I'm looking forward to seeing Thrain completed as I think he will be my next purchase to lead my Grim Hammers.

As you can see Thrain looks like a total mess, experimenting again with this one. Tried to do an all day marathon to get the competition entries done, but it's not going to happen.

I think "a mess" is a bit harsh a critique of your own work. Incomplete would be more accurate

Great work, in your eagerness to do much more, don't go rushing, these are really worth the effort.
