The freehand on the edges of Ori's clothes are so fine! Incredible painting all round!

Thanks.

Next up, Legolas. Putting this in the painting challenge.

I agree, a very nice start to one of the better sculpts.

It is scarey seeing that sculpt at about 5 times lifesize and still looking very neatly painted. I wish I could do anywhere near as good. Well done!

Cheers lads. Here's an update, with a comparison to one I did maybe 10 years ago or so.

Image

I did a quick re-coat over some old goblins I had recently, again the older painted one is from about 2001. Didn't strip them, just used black ink and re-defined the highlights.

Found a whole shoe-box of minis in my mother's attic. Lovingly dumped all in together once I moved out. Took one or two snaps while I had the camera set up. Will probably re-do all these in time.

Thanks. I'm sure I'll get round to it someday. Painted them in 2004!

Got these done this afternoon. Using left over bits of ent to increase their height.

No matter how hard I try I can't get the middle one's face to work.

Love the colour scheme, great idea to use old Ent parts on the base. It's time to get basing those hobbies!

Thanks. I'm going to do half in a "Rivendell" scheme (Dark Hair, blues and navys) and the other half in a more traditional wood elf scheme (Blonde and greenish clothes), with a bit of crossover regarding browns, leathers and greys to blend them all in.

I'm at a slight impasse regarding basing minis. Trying to get a 'default' look for bases. I used to keep them all generic, light brown stones and grass, but since I took it up again I want to keep them slightly more themed, but not so much to stand out a mile on a grassy gaming table. I did some experimenting with a kind of woodland feel on these, emphasizing dark mud. Not a fan of overly busy bases either.

One of my friends still uses Testors Paint so his figures won't look different next to the miniatures he painted 20 years ago. It looks ok in 15mm or on vehicles.
I did much the same with my bases. They are very ordinary.
Good job on the figures. 8)

Here's what I have for Mordor/orcs. I've been doing them with my kid brother on and off since last summer. Doing these in conjunction with the other projects as they are the only real evil army I own. The ones with grey stone bases are finished, all the grassy ones are to be re-done.

Latesst batch of wood elves, this time in the 'Lorien' style. They blend well with the others. Also got some autumnal materials from the train shop, will probably make some forests soon.

Finally based an ent I painted in 2008/9 I think. Probably the last only thing I did between 2006-12. The idea was that he's marching for the first time in an age. That or booting an orc up the rear!

Also got a start on this orc too.

Wow Gene, thought I had been busy painting! Brilliant painting & bases, like the autumnal look.
Great Ent, the foliage looks excellent.

Thanks guys. To be honest some of them have been going on for months, such as mordor.

The 'Rivendell' scheme is just darker hair, and more blueish than green.
