Nearly completed the sculpt. . . hoping to prime tonight. The Eye of Sauron will be posted just below the inner half-circle of feathers at the top of the seat back. Frodo will be perched on the seat. Tweaking a bit of the sculpture and filling out the seat a bit and it will be on to priming. Thoughts?

"Very interesting..." not sure I like the sound of that. Its like when my wife tries my food and says it tastes "interesting." :-) Anyway, for good or bad she is done. Let it set for a bit then I will prime and paint. I will say I have sticky tacked the eye on at one point and Frodo and those two elements add much to the chair. I will likely end up doing another one that is more styled to the film. We'll see.

Jake - I don't know if you've started priming yet but I have a suggestion for you. The seat looks great so far but there is a way that you can create a really nice stone texture on the seat itself - easily and quickly. Take some Milliput and smooth it over the surface of the seat - keep it wet by rubbing it over with a wet sculpting tool or your finger , either it doesn't matter. Whilst its still wet push some crunched up alluminium foil into the surface gently and allow to dry. You can either leave it at that or you can scratch stone slbs into the surface once dry - looks great painted. I'll send you some poison ivy with our trade to drive you mad after its all painted.

Woah! When I first show it I was like "this has great potential" and it surely did.
Actually it turned even better than I have imagined!
Great idea and great delivery. Well done sir :yay:

Indeed - Very well done Jake!! You also are disqualified from any future terrain competitions :P

On a serious note - this piece looks fantastic!!! The ring and flames offer a stark contrast to the rest of the piece and are an excellent focal point to the piece as a whole. Clever use of the invisible Frodo model too.
Really well thought out and perfectly executed.

Outstanding mate :yay:

I like how it's symbolically showing how the ring corrupts people and how the ring is part of Sauron. 8)

Rule of thumb for all my work is that it always looks terrible before it looks good. Thanks for all the kind words guys.

I think thats a pretty general rule of thumb in this hobby Jake (looks disgustedly at the pile of half done orcs staring back at him)
