I see all the cool cats have WIP threads..

In what seems to be the fashion, some of these pics will be actual WIPs and some will be completely painted miniatures. I am not a great painter, but things looks good enough on the table.

Here are some miniatures that I recently painted:

There are more pics and SUPER exciting and funny commentary on the blog:

if you are so inclined...(might not be actually exciting or that funny).

anywoozers, lets see if I can keep this thread updated like all the other really neat ones. it's kinda cool to see all the projects come together over time. :)

It's nice to see those old orc captains, no one has those anymore. Yellow can be a tricky colour to paint, but you did a great job with it. The line on Faramir's cloak is also very straight and smooth--nicely done.

Nice way of doing it, teasing us with photos here and then going to your blog to get the whole story.

Thanks guys!
@GKA; I probably have s bunch of old models lying around needing to be painted. Lol
@Map; I am a diabolical genius! :)
Standard blogging behavior.

I just got the prison tower mold and the octagon tower mold from Hirst and got to casting blocks. Next up is likely some ogiliath terrain wip. :)

Those are both great moulds. I'm anxious to see what you come up with!

Great to see you start up a WIP and I'll be looking forward to seeing some great looking terrain in the very near future as well! :)

Thanks!
Unfortunately for me I’ve been hit by a bus full of chores and responsibilities so further progress has been extremely slow. :(

So there I was, minding my own business, just casting away with the hirst art molds..

Image

and I managed to make a good start on this little bit..

Image

When all of a sudden I was smashed into by a bus load of the most dreaded..

Real life responsibilities.

So there will be but little progress in the next month or so..
sadly. you can read more here at the blog if you like.

I feel your pain. I need to cast some more blocks for my wall project and yard work and family is putting a damper on it. Right now I can pour some molds worth, go out in the yard and do some work, come back in, transfer blocks to dehydrator, repeat. At least where I do the plaster of paris I don't have to worry about little hands helping. It's too bad you have to clean up your whole area.

I recognize your molds and like the design you are doing. How do you like working with hydrocal?

Thanks Mapper.
It’s a temporary state of exile so I’m not overly troubled. Cleaning up the whole area was to show that I was serious. :)
RE Hydrocal; I like it just fine though I’ve never used anything else do don’t have any comparison. It does the job and the things I’ve made seem to have held together well enough even with some where and tear. The big test will come next month when I have to transport them.

Yay! Progress! It's addicting, isn't it? We should've warned you beforehand. Your hydrocal castings turned out a lot better than mine which had no detail. My hydrocal was really old and had probably settled in the half empty box. I swear I must be of orcish blood, I can't make anything square. I'm also single and pour my moulds in the kitchen. I lay down a garbage bag and when I'm done, I fold it in and dump it in the trash. Nothing to go down the drain. The plaster slides right off. When I do my gluing with carpenter's glue, I lay out everything on wax paper for the same reason--the glue won't stick to it.

Meanwhile, in this part of the world, pyramids and temples are being slowly erected in a glacial procession towards my Frostgrave: Egypt goal. I know Rome wasn't built in a day--but I'm trying for Giza! I really want to make some mastabas for scenarios after the pyramid and the temple are done.

I guess even my little progress is some progress. Barely.
I never had a problem with the hydrocal not giving details. Strange that happened to your batch.
I’m gonna have to try the wax paper idea.

Nice variety of arches but keeping a common theme - well done!

Thanks guys!
The arches on these buildings kinda remind me of wedding cake toppers but they seem to work. Painting has begun on these beauties as well. :)

Thanks Mapper.
It helped having a deadline as I wanted these done for a convention game I’m running.
For every project complete there’s another one waiting. :)
