But if the goal is just to paint the range, then wouldn't you just need to do one exemplar version of each model and not have to redue a 100 elven warriors?

Yeh I see your point lol .... I can't explain myself  !! What can I say I have one GW army box for each faction so it would be rude not to fill them. So that means 1 box for Elrond and Rivendell , 1 box for Gil-galad and Beleriand , 1 box for Cirdan and the Grey Havens lol its like you say its an illness

Great to see the old version next to it. I keep my old ones like they are. To much to paint left it would only get worse if i started to repaint stuff :)
I must say the old version wasn't really horrible, i don't think i would have stripped the paint off.

YOur new version certainl;y looks very regal, an improvement I dare say, but he would be ruined if his entire Cohort looked as regal as he does, if that makes sense.

Looks good! The highlighting on the red is nice, and the free-hand is spectacular!

I really like the colour palette you chose for Gil-Galad. The red, grey, and pale gold combine to make him look a) very martial and powerful; and b) very unlike any of the faded autumnal golds and greens and muted browns of the Third Age elves (at least in the vision of PJ & GW) whose vigour is passing from Middle-earth.

He looks like a proper legendary king of an earlier age; exactly the sort of guy who might decide to engage the Dark Lord in hand-to-hand combat. The freehand is also excellent.

A bit of a disaster has befallen me ......... During the night my pesky kids have escaped and somehow managed to get into the walk in wardrobe I use to store away my finished miniature boxes , Helms Deep, Minas Tirith , Weathertop etc and you wouldn't believe it - Helms Deep box is torn to shreds tho Helms Deep has survived. Minas Tirith was not so lucky, As it isn't in its original box ( hence the want for a box and polystyrene inserts in my trade thread) they've used it as a step to climb up and attack something up high and they've snapped 3 battlements off :o :( . Glued them back on but you know me, being the perfectionist that I am I'm going to need a new one.

Kids huh ..... you gotta love em!
