Sorry, can't see them. I feel your pain with photobucket - I need to update my wip also. But please do update yours, always a source of inspiration.

@Mapper, huh, that's strange. I'll stick with this method for now until I can find a better one. At least this way some people will be able to see them.

I'm done with the first troll! :D It was a lot of work, but it turned out well. I'm trying to get some good pics of this one, but am having a bit of trouble. Here is a decent one to give you guys an idea, that is, if you can see it lol.

I've also finally made a wet palette, and am going to try it on an Easterling, because I mix a lot of paints with them and they tend to dry out pretty quickly.
I will post more troll pictures when I get some good ones!

The image isn't working for me. I use Dropbox and it works well from what I can tell. If you want to know how to use it just check the Image Hosting Sites thread.

Can anyone see the image below?

That is truly amazing! Especially love the rusty effect on the armor. Would indeed like to know how you got that done :-D

Cool, glad everyone can see it! Here are a few more pics of it. I couldn't get all the shots I wanted, and a few of them are slightly out of focus unfortunately. My "story" I guess for the base is that he just smashed through a wooden fence, which is what the post and wooden bits scattered around are supposed to be. The first pic has the clearest view of the face by the way.

Dionyus and TheTarkLord, thanks! I'm also really happy with how the rust turned out. To achieve it I based the armor with Balthazar Gold, then washed it with Vallejo Sepia. This basically just adds another layer of corrosion to it. I then painted Runefang Steel over it, leaving the places I wanted rust alone. Then I washed all those areas with Typhus Corrosion, then drybrushed it with Ryza Rust. I then washed all of the armor with watered down black. The last step was just going back with the orange and drybrushing all the spots that I wanted to be really rusty, and taking some silver and drybrushing that around the edges of the rust.
I hope that helps, it's a little hard for me to explain. If anything isn't clear, just ask and I'll try and explain it better.

Thanks for looking, and let me know if the pictures all load for you guys.

I'm glad you went to all the effort to post pics. He looks amazing! Certainly a wonderful centerpiece. Plans to do the other?

@PowerofWill Thanks for the paints and techniques, if I ever get one of those Gundabad Trolls (which is unlikely at the moment ): ) I'll probably do a similar thing to what you did except with the paints I've got.

Thanks guys! TheTarkLord, no problem, glad I could help!
GreatKhanArtist, yes, the other one is currently being assembled. I think I'm going to paint a few Easterlings first, I only have a few left so I'm trying to get them finished.
Speaking of Easterlings, here is yet another :)

I tested out a wet palette on this one, and I have to say, it's quite nice. I can't believe I haven't used one before haha.
Thanks for looking!

Easterling looks great but I have to say that troll is stunning. Fantastic skill and realism to the work.

I'm really digging the metallics on the Easterling - any clues on what you used?

I really struggle with metallics, myself.

Thanks guys!
@ Lothíriel, sorry for taking so long to get back to you. For the armor, I basecaoted it with a mix of Shining Gold and Scorched Brown. The ratio tends to vary, but I tend to add a little more gold. Next, wash it with Agrax Earthshade. Re-highlight with the first mixture. Follow this by highlighting with pure Shining Gold, followed by Shining Gold with a little bit of Chainmail. Then, I like to apply a watered down wash of Thrakka Green. This is up to you though, it's depends on your preference. To finish it off, highlight the brightest bits with pure chainmail. Hope that helps!

Post subject:  Re: PoW's WIP: 9/12/17 Easterling

Hey all, just wanted to give a quick update. I've been really busy with real life stuff lately, but I have managed to basically finish painting all of my Easterlings!!!  I just have a mounted dragon knight left that I saved for last, and I'm pretty excited to paint it. I like the last one I did, but felt I could do better. I want to get him done over the weekend, but knowing me, it'll probably take a while. When I do finish though, I want to take some pictures of the whole army (that I started over 7 years ago!).
After that, I'm thinking of starting on the second Gundabad troll. I may still be needing a break from large minis, but we'll see.
