I decided to use more water cave elements for Goblin Town after I started work on the throne.I will need to cast a lot more parts. The throne room cave is going to have to be big enough for a small battle.I will add the water cave molds and cast them while I finish up the cast for the deeping wall and deeping tower and stairs. This will take some time but I have been working on the elements for Goblin Town for a while now.
Image
These pieces are from Dwarven Forge's Cavernous River and Cavernous Chasm sets. I am going to use the cavern floor accessory mold from Hirst Arts to make a wider ledge so that the Goblins will have some more room to hop around. Some new molds should arrive next week. I will begin to work out some of the elements for the Interior of Helms Deep and the Glittering caves as well.I will have more options for Sauron's Throne room too.
As always, suggestions are welcome.

Yeah those things are great for the glittering caves to use. With some sparkles here and there and sandy colors it might turn out a magnificent glittering cave.
Great job on what u got so far.

OOH looks very nice really really nice but I think there must be much more dirt and blood and that kind of things in the cave. And for saurons throne room try to make morgoth throne I don't have the silmarillon now but i thought there is a description of the throneroom in the book shall look for that if you don't have the book by yourself.

That is a good idea :!: I have the books but if you recall the chapter it would be helpful. I think some one made a painting as well. I will look for it and post a link if it is available.
Thanks that was a very good suggestion.

I found one so far.

hmmm not as much as I wanted to find only one sentence in Beren and Luthien but I think there is more. Look in the chapter of Beren and luthien on the part they are past the guard of the gates of angband.

I will look for more.

I like the way the Dwarven Fore pieces look but the Goblin Kings throne room needs to be way bigger. I am going to use the Goblin town road pieces to make room for the captured 13 Dwarfs and a convincing size Goblin rabble.
I will cut down the risers when I finish working out how large the stalactites will be.

Image
I am going to make the throne wider to make room for the Goblin Drum. As always comments and suggestions are welcome.

It's going to be great when finished :) You could hang up some cages with death dwarves in them. Might be fun. And makes the gobs look more cruel.

I have finished assembly of the 24 inch Deeping wall and the first set of stairs. I started the Deeping end tower and cast the parts for the stairs and wall. I do not have enough for the battlements yet. I have started the arches for the interior parts of Helms Deep and the Hornburg. I will have to review the drawing photos and plains before the assembly because I am not sure if what I worked out will fit yet.

Image Image Image

I am still planing to make the parts separate and try to match the GW model. I will paint the Deeping wall when I put together the separate destroyed piece. As I work though the model I am going to replace the GW pieces but I want to play some of the scenarios as soon as I can.

I found this skull candy mold at Michel's for 50% off. I know some of you play games that it might be more useful.
Image

I Goofed this one bad :!: The Deeping wall is 3 inches tall and 3 inches wide
Oh well I have to cast more blocks :D

I stated a new Deeping wall. I cut the scrap lumber to size. I am glue clamping the core now. I will plane it to size then cut it so I can avoid some of the problems I had working on the last wall. I have lots more photos and drawings too. I started working on the lay out for the hall. I am going to make a jig to keep the blocks square before I glue anything. I am going to have to cast a huge number of new blocks. This will give me more time to finish up some of the small projects.

Some stunning work once again Willow man, It's coming together nicely and looks very detailed. It looks quite long by looking at it in the middle picture, it's going to be quite a piece! Think I've aborted my Helm's Deep completely - pretty bored of mine.

Deeping wall looks great too, just waiting for the uruks to blast their way through 8)

It is 18 inches wide. I am going to have to get another mold for the 3 inch door arch. I have some good photos of the front of the Hall but I plain to do the interior too. I have worked out most of the details but I will need some more detail for the arches.

I get bored too. I think I have a lot more fun with the small projects. They also are much easier to store.

Great work Charlie and stick with it. It will be an epic piece once completed. I hit my one year anniversary with mine next month and the finish is way off yet !

The molds really are top class and as always you have put them to goos use. Have you planned anything else for this model ? I was thinking a wooden fence running along the inside edge of the slope, would give it a touch of character. Either a brand spanking new one or my favourite would be an old weathered one with a couple of broken runs.

That is a good idea. It was just the right think to get my brain working this morning. I try to make every thing possible as modular as possible. The fence had not occurred to me. I was thinking winding road when I made the piece.I will have to level one end of the rock for the stone Hut and the tower to fit.The fence was one I saved from my Halloween game.
Let me know what you think. Please keep the suggestions coming :!:

I think I might make another one of these with a little more room on top. I could leave more room for models. May be use steps.
