The skin looks really nice as does quite a lot of the details. My greatest complaint would be that the yellow hair doesn't really fit. Dark grey or brown hair would look better in my opinion. I would also suggest you watch how much sand gets on the feet. It might help if you painted the shoes and the sand on it more brown to distinguish them more from the rest of the base.

Excuse the double post, not to make use of it. Congratulations with the games. I'll be looking forwards to seeing the new additions, do you plan on doing anything special with the warg rider?

I also think the skin looks nice, but IMO the armor is not quite as good. The paint on the armor looks preatty thick and the drybrushing looks fairly messy as well. Watering down your paints, even when drybrushing, can really help. Great work on the Uruk! :)

Nice job on the crossbowman. I actually like the yellow hair.

Thanks for the comments!
I've given the yellow hair a wash of devlin mud and it looks more like a lighter brown rather than yellow (I haven't taken any pictures because i couldn't get the light to go where I wanted it; it either looked too dark or way too light). With the watering down of paints, I'm still trying to get the right consistency (I do the basecoat fine, then for the drybrushing it goes all runny :?), I'll get it right eventually.
I haven't played any more battle company games since my last post, the moria player is finding it hard to win so we're doing some 'learning tactics' games to help. We might restart again, or not.

Update Time

I've painted my Uruk-hai captain, 2 uruk-hai and a random goblin captain I made (not based).

I haven't done any more painting, however I have spend some time building several ladders out of matchsticks. Very fiddly, but easy when you get the hang of it.

In front are the ladders (and proof they work), and behind is what they were made out out.
But wait, before you disappear off thinking that my log has become boring and ladder obsessed, there's more! I'm planning to build a castle following the instructions provided in a number of the BGiME magazines. Apparently it'll look like helms deep, but it's more of a representation in my opinion. Construction begins as soon as my hot wore cutter arrives!!!

I love the face of your goblin - the dark skin and bright eyes really look great together! 8)

Seems ages since my last update, my hot wire cutter arrived yesterday and has been a godsend at cutting the polystyrene. So far I've completed 2 wall sections and 2 more are in the making. The fourth has been delayed as I have run out of ceiling tiles :-X .
I'll try and take some pictures tomorrow (possibly not though because I'm going skiing for the day!!! :D so maybe the day after that).

In the mean time here are two uruk-hai pikemen I've managed to paint up.

The hair isn't as bright in real life...

C&C welcome!!

The pike men are really good. You've definitely improved. 8)
The captain also turned out quite well. I'm looking forwards to seeing the wall.
Also, whatever became of the ring wraith you sculpted and house?

Thanks for the nice replies! I haven't done anything with the house & sculpted ringwraith. Don't expect much with the house, it might get painted sometime, but like most of my terrain pieces, it'll stay unpainted for A LONG LONG TIME! I am planning to get the castle painted, or at least undercoated.

And as promised, here are the pictures of the castle:

I have one more section of wall to finish, a gatehouse, a corner tower and a smaller section of wall.
I'll try to get some done over the weekend.

C&C welcome!

No comments then?
Anywho I've got the 4th piece ready for painting. But because I ran out of polystyrene and couldn't find any more (any where, I have ordered some from ebay though) I used some weird plasterboard stuff which worked okay.

Don't expect any more major updates for about 2 weeks though as I'm going back to school on Tuesday and have a DofE walk that weekend.

Yes, well sort of. Two wall sections and the gate will be first, then there'll be a sort of right angle of walls behind that (with a small gap in round the side) and a keep of some sort will be inside the right angle.
Sounds a bit weird I know, but hopefully you'll see it when i get it all together.
I will probably build a few other pieces so I can reorganise it a bit.
