My friend and i want to make an Osgiliath board. I think it has a lot of opportunity. Hopefully, we will be able to fill up a 5x5 table when we are finished. Any ideas or guides would be appreciated!

one idea would be lots of rubble because osgiliath is very ruined and lots of arches? :)

We worked on the tower most of the afternoon today. I am not to sure how its going to took after its painted. But all four sides including the windows and door are complete. Now it has to dry for a day or two, and then we will make the roof. I would take pictures but we are keeping it at my friends house to dry.

TheBucklandBrewer- thank you for the link, i have actually read both of those guides several times already and will probably use some parts of them on the project.

Heres some ideas.

Make a few abanodoned camp fires and things like that. It will show evidence of its inhabiters. Abandoned camp sites and luggage should really give it a good feel.
Maybe a few shields lying around too.
These are all just finishing details of course but they will look good.
If you can, a skeleton in some hard to reach place would be interesting. Maybe a gondorians body with a skull for its head could be lying half crushed by rubble.

A scorched building, as if it has been burnt out a while ago in previous battles.

Are you going to put a river in?

I hope I have given you some great idea's or helped to inspire new ones. :)

Those are some great ideas! especially the one about the dead soldier under rubble, I will definitely try to implement it. I will be putting a river in, maybe we will put floating body's in the river.

Before TLA went down, there was a great Osgilliath project going on there. One of the better ideas was placing a sunken Orc Landing Craft in the river. It's an idea you may wish to try.

Kiezer, I would recommend these all too, but with a slight modification on the crushed Gondorian. A skull for a head would hardly be realistic, since that would imply he had been rotting there a while. The Gondorians, of course, would have carried off and buried their dead, so maybe a normal Gondorian head, to make it look like he had been killed within the last day or so.

Just my thoughts.

Well It was supposed to be a body that was their for ages. Like it was abandoned for whatever reason. I dunno, just an idea really. A normal head would actually be better, your right.

Some great ideas being produced in this thread, looking forward to seeing how it turns out - should look pretty good.

Sorry that we havent made an update yet, for that past couple of weeks we have been extremely busy and havent made much progress. Next weekend we will get working and hopefully begin constructing the table!

By the way, my friend, who is also building the board, is named menoftheeast on OR.

Thanks again everyone for the support!

Finally an update...

So the 6x4 board has been set up and i have begun drawing up plans. Basically the river will be two feet long, making the amount of land on the board 4 by 4 feet. This weekend we will get the board up and running and then we will continue making ruins, bridges, boats, ect.

For now, here is the landing craft i built using the BGIME guide:

This took me about 3 hours to complete, and i am hoping to make about 6 more. Hopefully it will look nice when it's painted.

That orc boat looks pretty good! After some paint it will look even better.

I suggest that you press the 'plank' lines quite a bit to give it some depth or it wont stand out much with the paint over.

Will the 'door' be removable?

Keep it up!

Looks good so far! 8) If I may suggest something, I would recommend using Longbottom Leaf's idea of a steel brush for weathering. 8) Can't wait to see it painted!

The boat looks good, though I'm looking forward to seeing some more of the actual terrain!
