Thanks gaarew for your advice :-D very much appreciated.

For the faces I like the colour of Tallarn Flesh. Because of this is it important to water it down more because it is a "thicker" paint?

Have done a little bit of painting overnight, I will endevour to put up some pics later tonight

Yes, that's one of the Foundation paints, and they are really thick, so it's important to water them down if you want your mini to look smooth.

Thanks for the reply Hallpers. I found a very good video on youtube on how to thin paint. I found that using a flat palet eaiser to mix paint as opposed to one that has deep recesses.

Here is the link if anyone is interested : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LieIi9WfBBY

Pretty good vid, thanks for that 8)

All I can comment on from your minis has already been said, so I'll save you the trouble of having to read em over again

Keep us updated!

That's the best tip there is, it's all about trial and error. Had a look at that guys videos, sometimes these very long instructions with tons of theory are a bit overkill, you would think it's rocket science listening to that guy! :)

Time for an update :)

I just purchased the Fall of the Necromancer Sourcebook and I really liked the idea of an evil based Necromancer army. I had some spare Wargs lying around so I thought I would experiment with some colour schemes. Here are some pics

<a href="http://tinypic.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.tinypic.com/nx7vbd.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

<a href="http://tinypic.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i29.tinypic.com/dw88wl.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

I have been experimenting with how to water down my paints and I had a go with some of the ones from the KOMT box

<a href="http://tinypic.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i31.tinypic.com/aue49g.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

What do you think?

I also would like to show you my Fell Beast I have been working on. I decided for an alternative colour scheme, there are still a few layers that need to be added. The picture might not turn out the best but I will endevour to get a better pic.

<a href="http://tinypic.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i26.tinypic.com/2hozi1f.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

Again any comments/criticism is welcome

:)

Huge improvement over last minis! The wargs and horse look perfect, good job! :-D
The only criticism I have to offer is 'green-stuffing' the gap on the warg's neck... personally I think it kinda ruins a piece when the realism is threatened by gaps and other faults...
I like the alternate Fellbeast scheme, although here again I can see you didn't thin your paints!

Keep us posted!

Or only take pictures of them from the other side... :P

You have definitely taken a step in the right direction with thinning the paints, the horse is looking really good.

The fellbeast, hmmmm, maybe it is the lighting, but it just looks gold to me...

Yep, great improvements with thinning your paints! 8)
The Warg looks great, (except for the gaps!) I love the highlights on the mane. :yay:
I'm not overly keen on the fellbeast, though as you mentioned it may just be the light.

Keep up the good work!

Yeah, looking at the picture again, it is a shocker. It was late at night, tommorow morning I will look to take another pic, hopefully alot better than that one!

The fell beast is mainly brown, with Bleached Bone under the wings and main parts of the body.

Thanks for your comments about the Wargs and Horses, I am certainly starting to notice the difference.

I have a little confession though, the colour scheme was copied from BGIME. Still I really like the result.

Thanks for all your support, its been really great.

Hi guys, mini update.

I bought the Necromancer yesterday and I am having alot of trouble assembling it. Where the front part of the body attaches to the rest of the body leaves a huge gap near the bottom. Will try and post a pic of what I mean.

Anyone with any ideas on what to do would be really great.

I got that with my necromancer too. Its pretty easy to fix with greenstuff though.

Righto, time for an update. I have been very busy purchasing some new models, much to my local GW's delight. Here they are:

Ent:

<a href="http://tinypic.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i32.tinypic.com/6h0u9i.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

Sauron, the Necromancer:

<a href="http://tinypic.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i31.tinypic.com/34is19h.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

I was dissapointed with this mini because of the poor sculpting. The two halves of the mini did not fit together well and large amounts of green stuff needed to be used.

Legolas:

<a href="http://tinypic.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i26.tinypic.com/nbeqhc.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

Now I just need to find my spray and I am in business. The ent still probably needs another wash before I begin highlighting him.

As always comments welcome.

I agree with Olle, the ent looks really promising. I'm also excited to see what you do with the Necromancer. Your painting has really improved vastly since you started this thread, I look forward to seeing more. :)

It's really nice to see how much you have improved in two weeks. 8)
I would say strip aragorn because if you can do it just as well as the horse it would be a shame to keep him as he is.
I like the idea of the fell beast but he looks a bit to bright imo.

Its been a while, so I thought I give a little update.

My Gondor army is coming on nicely. Here are some KOMT, I finished a while back.

Pics is a bit bad, but they look pretty good.

But some clear contrast between the different armour sections might be needed.
